Switched out the stem on the Capra to a shorter one, just need to test it now, if I don't get on with t then it's going.
Sorted the headset on the scout, changed the bottom bearing spruced up the top.
4 hours waxing my car with G3 paste wax ready for winter.

That link is not working for me ..just bringing me straight back to the thread .. Edit : worked third time of asking ...needs to be good at that price..although I very rarely polish my car these days ..but always chamois it off ...however if it removes tar spots it might be worth a go ! Does that Sonar polish also detect holes in the road ..or did you just feature the Sonax as a cheaper alternative..haha!

Really ? Following your predictive txt cock up where the polish was called Sonar instead of Sonax which I highlighted in the next post you quickly edited this ...therefore " not playing the game " It's kinda of lost its humour now that I've had to explain it though..

Well I totally stripped the bike for its winter service. Removed and cleaned the chain, cranks, bottom bracket, cassette, seatpost, hubs, forks....the whole shabang. Relubed everything and put it back together nice and clean AND IT STILL WORKS! Had a moment with the rear hub not fitting back on.....after about half an hour I realised I had put a spacer thingy on the wrong side of the axle. Doh!

Managed to get an hour to look at the Mega since the last time I rode it - I feel really bad as the chain had got some rust spots on it from just putting it in the garage wet after I rinsed the mud off. So chain off, good scrub and clean, cleaned the cassette (thanks MBUK for the brushes!) and front/rear mechs and put it all back and gave it a nice lube. All running smooth now.
It's been neglected due to me spending most evenings the last couple of weeks moonlighting as a shop-fitter sorting the Wife's new business venture out:
So if anyone's passing Cannock fell free to pop in!

Improved the indexing of the gears on the roadie ahead of my first post man flu ride, big improvement (the gears not my breathing which was shite). Home and shower and then back into the garage Round two, removed the 1x10 set up from the scout and replaced with a xt m8000 1*11 set up I picked up from st for a sweet price. Replaced the routed gear cables, switched cassettes nearly good to go but forgot I never got around to buying a 11 speed chain.
Sold the Capra last week so for the first time I have no rideable mtb until the chain comes.
Planning sell the scout with shiny new drive train as I've already got a replacement for the Capra lined up and hopefully this will be a capable one bike for all things type of bike,

John you change your bikes more regularly than I change my underkeks ..but unlike my underkeks nothing ever seems to stick ... Just as a matter of interest what cassette are you putting on the scout ? If you have gone xt does that mean 32×46? I know I won't get an answer to this next question as you will probably want to torture & tease until the new bike arrives .. So what is it ? Haha

(Neil, you mean 11-46 cassette...) John told me before he was thinking about a Whyte 130 or a Jefsy...sorry John, spilled the beans...lol FYI, YT Industries are making a great promo on all their carbon models. Canyon would be my choice...or Intense.

The only thing I'd swop my T130 for is the carbon version, just coming up to 12 months of ownership and 2500 miles and still love it. Perfect choice for a do it all bike.

Although the terminology was wrong I was asking if it was a 32t single chain ring with a 46t cassette ..

No doubt it is a great bike...perfect balance, do-it-all bike, great for climbing and very capable going down. As always, carbon scares me...saw Nick's new Orange 5 the other day and that is looking great.

Although the terminology was wrong I was asking if it was a 32t single chain ring with a 46t cassette .. It's just 40t Neil. Tbh its 2 teeth less than I would normally opt for but I didn't quite notice it in the ad such was my inpatience to grab a shifter, cassette and deralliur for 95£, all new. i may not ride it so I can advertise the bike as having a un ridden drive train. On the subject of me changing my bike, I've had the scout for two years now but just changed the second bike from an enduro to an hard tail the frame was warranted twice and switched to a mega to use up the forks, the mega was too similiar as I thought it maybe and my wife who said she wanted a bike didn't ride it do when I saw a bargain Capra frame I swapped the frames out. If the scout was more of an xc whipper I would have had a good balance but again a bit too similiar. sold the Capra for a profit just about, using up lots of parts from the original hard tail, just a shame to let the mavic wheels go. Decided to sell the scout whilst it's still got a reasonable value and put the joint proceeds into one bike with a bit left over hopefully. new bike use, g was right in that I was thinking about the Jeffsy, especially wth 500 euros off taking it back below pre euro slump pricing. Then started to think about a stumpy 29 which as very similiar geometry, possibly a bit better for longer rides. Went to throw my leg over one and it reminded me what I didn't like about my last 29er. On a medium frame the wheels just lookout of proportion and the stack height is pretty high. Nearly bought the 650b version 2016 expert model one of a few left around with 30% off but for a carbon frame and decent spec it wasn't that light and couldnt really be improved. Plus the reach and top tube is pretty short, more like old school sizing. Also Gaz isn't that far off with the strive and my finger hovers over the buy button on a 8 race at really great price most of the weekend but then I found something with a better spec, a chunk lighter and little less travel that I pm hoping will be a great all rounder. it isn't black for a change so I've had to tell the Mrs because even she would notice the difference. Hope my cold finally fucks off before the bike turns up so I an ride bikes rather than talking about them.

40 with a 32 at the front is tough sometimes! Many times I've been thinking about getting the OneUp 45 sprocket. I still think Whyte...c'mon tell us what you are getting?

Can only rate the Strive highly but glad you've found the bike your looking for.
