Thought it might be fun to post up what jobs you've done on your bike(s) recently.
So today I've put a new chain and gear cables on the HT and given it a bit of a clean & lube. Serviced my lads bike - reset gears & brakes and clean & lube.
And non bike related fixed a toilet seat and cleaned the gutters out......

Took the bottom bracket out and re greased as I thought it sounded a bit rough last time out.
Funnily enough I also had to fix a toilet seat as well.

Last time i worked on my MTB was Friday, started off with cutting the steerer tube down, then gave the headset a good clean and adjusted, and finally ordered some Ti Bolts for the front brake caliper. Earlier in the week, i had the rear end apart, changed the spring back to the firmer one, and cleaned all the moving parts in the suspension linkage. The cable for my dropper was also recently replaced
It seems like the bike will ride fine for a while, then several things suddenly need doing! I do enjoy working on my bike though

Tbh I can't really be arsed with the bike at the moment, got little or no interest with it, not too sure what's going on! I've not looked at it since we went out last, which is about 4 weeks ago.

Managed to sort my grinding out on the rear mech of the Mega last night before my ride. Thought it needed resetting on the limit or B screws, so dropped the cable off the mech and aligned by hand, and spun up and pushed the mech to check limits. Cue catching finger nail on outer tread block - bugger! massive chink of nail missing and lots of swearing. Put cable back on a re-indexed - still making a noise.....
After much poking and head scratching I realised what I'd done wrong...
I'd taken the chain off over the weekend when I gave it a clean - and in my haste to put it back on I'd routed it the wrong side of the chain guide in the middle of the cage - ooopps!! I now have 2 lovely little grooves where the chain has worn the alloy away!!
Took chain off and refitted correctly and I have quiet transmission again!!! - Oh and my finger still f@**in' hurts!!

Some fettling on this beauty, Dropped in the carbon post an set the saddle to comfy angle an rolled rolled the bars so they are flat. Overall, very happy may change a couple of bits for less weight.

Interested too see just how you can drop some weight. What do your existing wheels weigh.
My pro carbon is hovering around 7.9kg with pedals and two bottle cages. The ultegra wheels aren't oaky weight wise but at 1650gm more of a mid range set, not sure it's worth dropping the dough on a carbon set to lose 150gm or so and believe the braking is inferior especially when wet. I have ally bars snd stem so could save their but would be expensive and a faff redoing the gearing and cabling and wrap etc.
Wheels are tubeles so may try some schwalbe pro 1s next summer and bin the tubes. Maybe the st way to get down to 7.6 on the cheap. Got more weight to drop of my own frame, should worry about that first.

Fettling wise I replaced a shitty Michelin wild grip rear tyre which has punctured twice in four rides, with a spesh slaughter and back to tubeless.
Then set about testing it out with a steady 40mile plod through burnley, Rossendale and Calderdale. Seems to roll well and grip wise seemed perfectly fine, large side knobs and fast rolling centre, the first time I've used on of these and pretty impressed so far. See how it copes with the lovely winter gloop.
Earlier in the week I eventually paid some one else to sort my pike out after practically destroying them, props to Bounce suspension in Preston excellent service and very helpful and informative. Did a good job of fixing my hatchet job, sorted som play in my reverb out as well whilst they had it in and added some conical washers to my front brake calliper which were missing and they say are really essential for proper positioning and centralling your calipers.

Wheels come in bare at 1510g, I one latex tube in the front one which save a small amount. Tyre wise current ones are 285g each, I can knock it down with some Vittorias which weigh 235g each so thats 100g saved. Saddle is 250g on the dot, Im looking at a Fizik weighing around 145g thats 105g off. Pedals im getting some ritchley SPDs which are 225g the pair, current SPDs are 420g so 195g saved there. Totals around 400g alone there, thats before I start modifying bits . Tyres wont be changed till they are needed though. Wheels wise I'm with you on carbon, guy I ride with cannot stop moment they get wet even with carbon pads. Metal rims are old school but work.

Added some extra bling to the Mega today: Gave it a clean - with some help: She then went on to clean her own bike: Also gave the wife's Handcycle a bit of a tune up.
