...im taking my boy and his mate up to Kielder to session one or two parts of some red runs ... This will be the first time they have been on anything other than a blue ..so have chosen some of the less gnarly sections which can be easily reached by fire road . While im looking forward to it ...my legs arent after yesterdays ride ...especially as i will be trying to keep up with two teenage whippersnappers ...!

Mostly nursing a pair of tight hamstrings and struggling to get up and down the stairs.
Will take the kids for a decent walk to try and loosen them up. Over to my parents for slap up dinner.

Well I had a great 3 hours with the boys which just about killed me from the off..the fitness of youth ..moreover where did it come from? But then you look at them and realise that they are no longer boys ..but young men who like it or not are exercising way more than yourself so should it really come as any surprise when they leave you for dead from the start ! Mind you by the end they were just as knackered as I was ...not having the experience to pace themselves soon caught up with them..for which I was extremely grateful ! I was surprised at how well they handled things ..as mentioned above this was the first time they had been on a red graded trail ...Kian ( Alex's mate)..is a "hooligan" and being a couple of years older (15) is a good bit stronger ...and has a great skill set from BMX...he was completely at home and took every opportunity to get airborne! Alex did great ..first time on a full suss ..and you could see him visibly growing into it as he realised what the bike was capable of ..both had "offs" but picked themselves up and carried on .. Looks like I could have a busy summer with both of them wanting to do more .. Well done lads.. Kian Alex Knackered

Recovering after riding to the top of Helvellyn on Saturday night/Sunday morning. Left Glenridding at about 00:50 on Sunday morning and reached the summit just over 3am. After battling through thick fog and strong winds. The plan was to stay for the sunrise but it never really materialised due to thick fog and cloud and it was bloody freezing up top. Epic descent though via sticks pass. Feel as though I've been hit by a train today

Just got back from a ride... Went up for a spin around my favorite woods, played about on a new to me trail, which features a small double and a decent sized bombhole. Then moved onto another trail, which has recently had loads of work done, including adding a nicely sized drop which flows down to this double! I'm normally shite at jumping, but this went rather well. Nearly killed myself the first time, probably hit it at double the speed needed, but after that, it was sweet. After that, climbed up the downs and done abit more XC/Natural riding. On the way back down, done quite a big huck and ended up getting a flat. Was only a minute or so away from the car so i just arron gwinned it down!
