Ok so I'll start my story right from the beginning, few days ago perusing pink bike I saw a an aluminium yt capra for sale. I'm not ashamed to say it took my fancy and I was prepared to pay the asking price to ensure the bike was mine. I sent a message to the guy selling it and though I saw he had recieved it he later dropped the price of the bike on the advert. Being nieve little me I truly thought that maybe he hadn't got message so I sent a further message expressing my interest in the bike (I do really like the capra). No response until the next day when messaged back to say it was sold. The messages did get through then. His tough luck I told myself as I would have paid the full price and had it delivered (he lived miles away). My story then cuts to yesterday when I saw a carbon capra for sale on pink bike. So excited, this was why the other dude didn't get in touch surely? So I message the guy and got no response, but he logs on ad relists the bike so its back at the top of the list with todays date. I'm angry but not enough to not view the capra, so I make the other half an account and message him and get a response straight away!!!! So some men dont wanna sell their bikes to women??? It has left me feeling a little pissed off to be fair. Just wanna know why my notes ain't as good as my hubby's?

Does seem a little odd ! I would have sold it to you too.. I can't really understand that sort of macho bullshit ... I've watched with a huge amount of respect the way Jean in our group has grown as a rider ...while she has always been a climber the way she tackles the downhill sections these days is fantastic .. Pity you won't have the chance to show the tosser how it should be ridden ..

Well after sending a message on the "other" account along with hubbys phone number i did go and view the bike. He wasnt in and it was his wife who had the bike out for us to see. It was a little to big and i was totally gutted because knobhead or not i really wanted the bike. I did get a message after that read something like "did you view the bike yesterday if yes sorry if not its still available". Thing is it has knocked my confidence a little, think its the fact its happend twice in a couple of days. All my mat says is well just post from the fellas account next time, but i shouldn't have to.

I'd agree with you. You shouldn't have to disguise yourself to buy a bike!
Unfortunately, Pinkbike (and the world in general) is full of idiots.. Personally, when I sell a bike, I couldn't care less who buys it.
Money is money. Yours is as good as the next persons..

Seems really odd and pathetic. May be he's worried he would feel like Ross from friends when his wife left him for a woman. He probably thinks his mates will take the piss out of him for having a girls bike. Either way spend your money with someone else

No but only because it was to big. He put it up for sale as a small , which on the yt website said it would fit someone 5'3" to 5'9", so as I'm 5'6" I really thought I would be coming away with it. Truth is it looked the same sort of size as mats medium stumpy. I like bikes a little on the smaller side. To say I'm gutted is an understatement.

Did you notice the saddle position and the stem length? Those two together, adjusted can make a world of difference. Capra's are apparently quite small I've heard, so its surprising that an S doesn't fit you?!

Yeah i was thinking maybe it was a medium instead of a small. Had a look around the frame but didnt see a size. The stem was quite small on it already. My heart was singing change the stem length, but my brain was saying it just won't work. It had a reverb dropper. The actual post that the dropper goes into was nearly all the way in so not to much adjustment there :-(

I Wouldn't take it to personally, over the years I've tried to buy a few bikes on there with relatively little success. No one ever seemed to reply to my messages either!

I didn't mean position of the saddle, in terms of height from the floor, but further towards the handlebars. The Capra is a bike capable of a short stem, which will further improve handling...but worse for the climbs...unless you were to reduce the fork travel by 10 mm if the fork allows! The Capra is also quite a hooligan of a bike...some say, just behind a downhill bike...are you sure you need a Capra or is it just a "love at first sight thing"?

Haha love at first sight, uplift days and stile cop sort of thing. Cant quite justify a full downhill bike or buying it brand new. To be fair it was a little heavier than i had expected it to be, but i didnt mind, i wasnt expecting to ride it up to many hills.

I think part of the problem (not all) is that on pink bike when you access it via mobile you can't see if you have an inbox message without going into it.

No way, thats the capra i went to see on saturday. It is a beautiful bike and the pictures dont do it justice. It does come up big and unfortunately it was to big for me. Im not the one he's been messaging by the way as wife knew it was to big. Did get a message on my account asking if it was me who viewed it and i replied that it was. Thought for a few heart wrenching seconds mat was gonna by it for himself though, that would have been a divorcable offence surely :-(

I'm laughing at the bit where he says he is 5'11 and it suites him perfect, I'm pretty much the same height as him and I wouldn't dream of using a small Capra, it just wouldn't enspire any sort of confidence.
