Hi guys and girls! My name is Colin and I'm from near Carlisle, been riding about 2 years now since I treated myself to my first proper bike. I got a Merida full sus, the one forty-5b which has been such a great bike, it's never put a foot wrong since I started. My usual haunt is Whinlatter or Ae forest at Dumfries but with my best mate we have done glentress and keilder and kirroughtree too. This week after realising that I love MTB more than ever and that it wasn't just a phase, I treated myself to my second brand new bike It's a 2016 Orange five pro-line ltd edition, in atomic orange. I specced it up with factory kashima 36's and float CTD shock and it's currently being invisiframed and fitted with some V12 pedals before I get my first ride this weekend! Any other local members on here?? Couple of pics of my bikes

Hello Colin Our group of mountain bikers are mainly based in the North East ..but travel over to Cumbria, Yorkshire , Scotland etc . Have done all of the trail centres you have mentioned but we definitely have a preference for natural trails ...oh did I mention we are all getting on a bit ..but with age comes experience ! If you see anything posted in the forum ride section that you fancy joining just shout up ...and welcome to the forum.

Another southern northerner (lancastrian) here, however we have fairly regularly trips upto the lakes, the ridings too good not to.
Keep an eye on the forum rides page.
Lovely looking orange as well by the way.

Welcome to the forum. Staffordshire man here! I don't go Up North very often because, well, I can't be arsed. Nice bikes.. Far too clean for my liking though

Thanks for the warm welcome folks! I'll definately keep my eyes peeled for any local rides. I need to discover some more natural or off piste trails! The orange is clean cause it hasn't even been ridden yet! It'll look different tomorrow I promise!

Welcome Colin. Sheffield lad (kinda?!) here. However the forum tends to organise rides around the country and occasionally at the Lakes. Myself, I'm hoping to travel monthly to Cumbria and finally try Whinlatter and other trails, so if you don't mind showing me around at some point, that would be cool! You will love that Fox setup. Good thing about Orange is that if it gets too battered, chipped and scratched you can send it back for a full re-spray.

My knowledge is pretty confined to Whinlatter mate but definately up for discovering some other stuff, I really want to do skiddaw. Had an absolute blast on the bike yesterday. Set tons of PR's on Strava and the bike just feels so much fun and so alive on the way downs. The 1x10 takes a bit of adjusting to on the climbs mind you!! Took a couple of pics

Welcome to the forum I'm Edinburgh based so the main play area is Glentress. If you're ever up this way be sure to drop a line on the rides thread and we could get something sorted.
