Having watched my weather app since returning from a rain drenched Lakeland ride at the weekend ..I knew today was going to be good ..and so it turned out . Billy no mates today ..but what a day to be out on a bike in the hills .. Shortly after starting the climb up Clennell Street to the Border Ridge at Hazely Law ..looking back .I had already had 45mins of climbing under my belt ... [/URL And it just goes on and on ....
Looking back again And still up ! Eventually ..the border ..England this side of the fence ..Scotland the other Staying on the English side ..flagstone trails ..miles of the stuff at various points ..all airlifted in Although the view into Scotland sure was pretty ! High point of the day ..Windy Gyle 610m Then it was down on a really disappointing track over Little Ward Law ..there are better options .. But by the time I had crossed Barrow Law and had a cracking descent to the farmhouse tearoom at Barrowburn ...all was well with the world again Another stiff climb before a drop to Fairhaugh Where totally out of the blue I met this fine looking fella and his mate ..dont know who was more surprised!! Ant's machine on the hill ( apparently they do work ..sometimes !lol) All that was left was the fantastic bridleway down the Uswayburn and back to the car at Shilmoor... What a day ...just wish I'd had some of my riding buddies to share it with !

Cracking day for it.
I had a local jaunt as well and found it very sweaty going on the climbs.
Had a bit of an off and found that dry gravel and rocks hurt more than wet and muddy ones lol. Cuts to back , shins and elbow but nothing major, a couple could have been avoided had I opted to protect my flesh rather than Ray and get a decent tan. My elbow guards cover too much arm and felt like such a shame not to make the most of the sun that I left them in the car, I chose my most minimalist knee pads and they did a good job but cut below them and down my shins.
Lesson learned......again .lol.

I did think about doing something like that Glynn ...but felt I had to keep the mountain bike fires burning .. It's a dirty job but someone has to do it ..

One of the reasons I like your pics Hodgy is it is all so different to where I ride, I am normally in tight, twisty and rooty singletrack where I struggle at times to get 760mm bars through the trees (which I do love, tbf) - seeing all that open space is so different.

Cheers Pez...although Kielder is pretty much on my doorstep with over 100miles of man-made singletrack...give me natural stuff everytime . That's not to say I don't love riding trail centres though ..just fortunate to have a lot of both on my doorstep. I keep saying it ..but you lads really should get up here sometime .

I agree Hodgy, we don't really ride the trail centre stuff much now in Cannock, unless the weather is totally rubbish, but even our off piste runs are normally through tight and rooty forest.
