A bit short notice but news of incoming in laws prompts to spend the Saturday away, was thinking something from stavely like Garburn and Nan bield.
this one; pedalnorth.com/content/nan-bield-and-garburn just not sure how it fairs after a soggy spell.
If not then something around Grizedale, Parkamoor???
Anybody up for it?

Can't make another Lakeland ride this weekend which is why we are staying local ..mind you you said one name there which you won't get me back on ever ..Nan Bield. Quite simply not worth the effort ( just my opinion ) . Although I haven't canvassed opinion on this yet ..but as everyone who was there has said they would like to go back sooner rather than later ..was thinking of Saturday 17th September for a re-run of the Hawkshead ride .. May even have done it as a midweek ride prior to that...but if the forecast is anything like last Saturday ..forget it !

Ref the nan bield apparently this isn't the bad bit, I think theres multiple options and this is an easier going one.

From what I can make out though John it has you going up the switchbacks ..which for most folks would still be an extended push up ..this would normally be the down ...but then some folks will suffer this just to bag a high level pass.I have thought for a long time that the best riding in the Lake District is on the lower level slopes ..but that's just me .
I will keep you in touch with Hawkshead ..

I like some of the none mountain routes I've tried like the ulswater, bowderdale and especially the last one with Gaz around loughrigg and Ambleside, although the climbing still mounts up so similiar to one of the mountain epics but spread out over a longer ride. Didn't feel too lovely this morning so struggled to get out as earlier as planned so rather than spend around 3 hours in the car round trip I thought I would spend that riding and head out from home, over the local moor into Rossendale and then climb up to the long causeway around bits of Calderdale drop down the fantastic gorple road descent and spin out the last few miles along the canal towards home. Didn't plan it but ended up being one of if not m longest rides on a mtb, not the most exciting though but a good workout nether the less.
