I've just watched a video for topping up this gunk where the guy just used an ordinary syringe and injected straight into the tyre itself ..anyone else do it this way? Also ..for those who use Co2 inflators ..this can apparently crystallize and dry out the sealant ...if you didn't already know !

I use cheap disposable medical syringes and they fit just over the exposed valve after removing the core.

Any particular size John ? I'm asking as I'm assuming there will be different nozzle sizes depending on the size of the syringe ...

Bd plastipak
The nose end is a Luer-lok tip, which fits into and over the Presta valve like it was almost purpose made.

..for those who use Co2 inflators ..this can apparently crystallize and dry out the sealant ...if you didn't already know ! I found this out the hard way as you possibly remember. It was on my Cairngorms outing with Russell and Ian last summer and was a contributing factor to the septic shin wound which I brought back as a souvenir. My tyre burped from hitting a waterbar with no skills, and I used CO2 on it, from then on it would slowly lose pressure for a while then I'd top it up again. Eventually this had the inevitable result of hitting a waterbar with less than required psi's, and off, and pin gouge almost to the bone. The LBS told me the resulting latex blob is called an alien crystalline entity (lol) and that is what it looks like. I kept it as a souvenir but seem to have lost it otherwise I'd post the pic. I was told it is easy to avoid, just turn the wheel to put valve at the top when you squirt the gas.

Yes they are right. Can get a bit bunged up so as they are so cheap I use a new one for every couple of tyres.
