I am sitting here looking at specs for my my ideal bike build. I am looking to balance value/performance and looking for some input from you experts. When I look at my wheel/fork combos I have 2 in mind just now.
Yari 140mm + dt swiss m1900 which comes on at 3883g and €700ish or Pike 150mm + dt swiss m1700 which comes in at 3575g and €1,050ish.
Should I save the money and take the weight penalty or invest in the upgrades? I read the yari is good but the damper id not as good as the pike (would I even notice) and I read the m1700 is 150g lighter and I think has better hubs too. Hhmmm decisions decisions.

I'm no expert ..but why does Fox not come into the equation ? No reason other than I have rockshox and like them/used to working on them. It's just what floats my boat really.

Why not a 150mm yari? Hearing good things about them and 1mm stiffer than the pike.
Dt wheels are good. Also worth a look at the new mavic xa elite. 1695gm nice and strong and look pretty cool to boot.

I would read this if you haven't done it yet... enduro-mtb.com/en/top-5-popular-enduro-articles-august-2016/I would also give the guys at TFTuned a ring and ask their opinion...they are pretty cool and helpful people...you can ask Paul or Murray for help...they really helped me out before when i was trying to make similar choices. From all i read, the new Fox 36 and 34 are better than the Pikes and Lyric...but RS apparently have really good warranties and longer service requirements. Have you priced getting some wheels built, say some Mavic rims on Pro 4's...or all Hope?

I don't think you can include Fox in the equation when you are considering value.
Yeh pretty sure Yari is a lyric without charger dampner rather than a dumbed down pike. I notice they are specing Yaris to some mid range long travel 29ers now as a less flexy value option, better than a revelation on a stumpy 29er for example.

I've just bought a new lyrik rct3 for the price of a pike and have ordered some hope Tech enduro rims on new hope pro 4 evo hubs for 330 quid. So £1030 all in

lyric and spank oozy rim, your welcome Lyrics are a bit too dear and over kill for what I ride. If I am honest over 130mm is overkill for me but frame I want is for 140/150mm forks

Yari's are nearly as good as pike. Yeah I am liking €200 cheaper but worried about the "not as good " motion control damper and extra weight. That €200 could buy lots of other bits.....or is that a false economy. I just dunno.

I'd shoot for the pikes, but you've got to decide what £170 is worth to you. Pikes probably the best forks I've ridden. This..... you'd always wish you'd bought the pikes if you went for the yari

I have the DT swiss rims on the Chief - can't fault them, dead easy to service the hubs yourself and in 3 years of my clumsy arsed riding I only had to have the rear slightly trued and they are as good as new again - dead easy to go tubeless on too. As for forks I've only really had Pikes - but if you are talking 140/150mm (Fox are just too pricey - imo) give the X-fusion Sweep 140mm a serious looking at. I have the Sweeps on the Bird and they are great forks. Only thing I miss from the Pikes is the compression damping (Sweeps have a straight lock out) but, tbf, I don't really need it for the riding I do on the Bird, in fact, the lockout is a better feature for the climbs! Also much cheaper that the RS or the Fox. Sweeps - review

A set of Pikes and a pair of WTB Team Frequency I23's is what I'd be going with

You'll get them in the wheel build section on CRC, I have the I25 built with Hope hubs and to date they have been faultless
