Any body up for a ride this sunny Wednesday?
Thinking along the lines of Calderdale or maybe Marsden for a change.
Only consideration is that I need to be at the school gates, dirty and sweaty or not by 3.20PM.

Possibly john. Altho iv got a few things to do in the next few days before im back at work. My plan was to go on an evening ride sometime from home on the spur pf the moment. If you dont mind me confirming one way or the other ar short notice? iv also got the taste for a ride with some jumps and drops to session after the weekend ride with G's mate frank.

If you want to hit some jumps and drops we could do gisburn instead. Hope lines a good introduction, if that wets your appetite there's some bigger stuff on the down hill line however I don't like the gap jumps myself.

Also need to be home early isn to look after the little ones. definately some time soon Though and gisburn would be a good one to have my first full on night ride.

Have a you tube of the hope line. Nothing bad on there. All the jumps are table tops and gaps only around 2.5ft tops.
There's a few other drops and a qualifier practice gap jump before the main down hill line which to be honest I shit myself every time I see the jumps on there. Mainly due to lack of margin for error with a tree wither side of the landing and sharp turn thereafter.
Let me know either way.
If do wake early enough and feel good to get going I'll be riding to work a d back tomorrow so may not be up to a long hill Calder dale ride the morning after so Gisburn would be good.
If I don't ride to work I'll be up for a longer loop somewhere.

It's alright I can make the bike super soft
Aslong as I'm steady down it will be fine
Usually smash over the bigger stuff I'll just have to take the smoothest route instead of fastest

i got caught out in it meself. set off as a nice summer evening ride with the sound of dry dirt crunching under my tyres....aaaaaahhhhh! love that sound. didnt even get to lady cannings for a play on the lumps and bumps. sky was various shades of dark grey and purple, lightning, thunder, and absolute torrential rain

I hope you didn't set off before that monsoon hit the area, been hammering it down her for an hour with lots of thunder, lightening and strong winds. Just got to the top of Homebaked when it started,by the time I got to the top of the Hopeline climb it was right on top of the forest, massive fork lightening and thunder claps that made me jump, scary stuff.Lasted until I got to swoopy before it calmed down.I never been out in a thunder storm as bad as that before, I was a bit worried about the section after the boardwalk and the section up to the slab as I was out in the open with lightening all around, you could feel the electricity in the air.For a second I even thought about cutting it short I did question my own sanity a couple of times on the ride!!

Crazy dudes! I've always asked myself if the rubber tyres and grips would actually save us? The weather from where I was, sat at home, changed drastically and very fast! Like the end of the world was coming!? I'm glad I left work on my bike just before it started!

We were out tonight too Gaz ..missed it all ..not a drop of rain ..but the lightning on the way back home in the car was unreal ..saying that though ..hardly any rain at all ..weird !

Definitely a bit mental Gaz, but I don't bathing it was forecast to be so bad was it.
Probably like me if it turns bad once your out then your already wet nd you my as well finish the ride. Maybe the only difference is if I was stoll in the car when it turned bad, especially on my own I probably wouldn't have set off in the that.

i reckon we could do with finding the answer to G's question how safe are we on a bike in the middle of a lightning storm?

Well the rubber wheels would " earth "the bike ..not sure about the rider though ..could turn out to be a sizzling experience!
