Unless you have wings on your bike, you can't ride up slippery stones, can you? Assume we are doing the exact same route as last time?
Not sure if i can make it in fact since i had a ride already booked with Nick.
Also, it has been raining a bit lately.

apart from the boggy section in the middle which hasnt dried out for over a year now, the rest of it will still be good. its further into the autumn rainy season when it usually becomes less ridable.

Do you not thing Gaz could make it up those steps then? To be honest they did look a bit steep and technical. Almost Everything there after was also steep until you get near that paved section.

Nick was going to show me a few new rides...but it's not to say I won't be there, specially because it is my favourite ride. When we came back down on the slippery stones and went straight (know as the Black option), there is no way anyone can go up those!? Unless we are not talking about the same sections!?

Not doing this now due to change of plans and being a Billy no mates.
Heading around pen y ghent out of clapham instead whilst it should just about be dry enough to be somewhere near it's best.

I haven't but plan for so that mid week one time when there's fewer walkers about then just descend back down the other lanes as it would put you out onto the boggy side if you wanted to limb back around pen y ghent. It's definitely better anti clockwise.

Sorry g I thought you was either going somewhere else or may have drive train problems.
Your welcome to join us. It's a bit more of an xc bimble than the urate but still 4 or 5 good downs one of them quite long and varied.

Cutgate...my favourite ride and probably this would have been the last chance of the year to do it...the other ride is on Sunday now. I can ride the bike, as long as I don't turn the clutch on! Dales is too far for me tomorrow. Have fun anyway

Sorry chaps, Its my fault John changed the route, knackered my back and have been struggling to ride and drive for the last week or so.It's on the mend but couldn't manage 2 hours in the car, ride, then two hours driving back so he moved the ride closer as we though there would only be two of us.I'm OK'ish riding once I'm moving but it's sitting still and pressing the clutch which kills me

yes...i bet it is...and i bet you might have pins and needles down your leg (if so yours is already on a few serious levels). sciatica is awful...ive also struggled for years (specially after heavy squatting, bent over rows or dead lifts) and recently with a trapped nerve not so long ago and i was walking all bent...had loads of physio sessions which helped but there is nothing like rest...hot and cold...steam room helped a lot, at least for me to be able to relax...anti-inflamatories for me are not great because i had stomach problems before... have you tried BioFreeze gel...its good to relax...try it if you haven't.
i only did Cutgate once and i was totally hooked...really cool ride, on both directions even. but needs dry weather.

Cheers good ride, the weather mostly behaved itself just a touch windy unfortunately blowing us back up drop down back towards Horton. Some roadie style slip streaming helped on the road section. Nice coffee stop at kitties honesty box cafe with a piece of cake for fuel. The usual boggy sections were a bit soft in places but not as bad as they could have been. Good tough ride and quite pleased with the capra climbing so much hard without being too much of pig. As Gaz eluded to above my "I'm just going to take it easy" statement for the final rocky drop down towards and through the tunnels went pear shaped when I took a spill mid way through the first tunnel. Bloody horrible crash I think I slid off a rut with the front wheel and felt like I twisted the bars by hitting some kind of obstruction and went off the bike scraping along using one side of my body mainly my shin and elbow being trapped under the bike until I came to a stop. Awful feeling thinking I may have broke my shin without being able to see it in the pitch black and then the sound of a bunch of other bikes screaming down into the tunnel behind me. Fortunately they managed to slow up and avoid me somehow. The shins a rather sensitive part along with knee bones and the Bollocks. I felt a bit sick with pain for a while but managed with gaz kindly offering one of his elephant tranquillisers for his bad back. The Mrs has applied some cream after a good clean up. The bumps coming up like a second knee cap. Sadly the only pics from today.dont get roo many or very long rest breaks with Gaz.
