next week my days off are wed/thurs/fri. im thinking of doing this ride bordering on sheffield and the peak district. the likely route will be stanage edge, burbage edge (cheeky), totley moor and finishing with a run through lady cannings on the purpose built trail. its an excellent mix of rocky, rooty, woody, double and singletrack with a bit of road to link it together, some beautiful scenery also . its around 25 miles ,4-5 hours. if anyone is available let me know.

If the weathers reasonable I think I'll make it.
Wednesday best, Thursday a possibility.

Yeah, shame it's so far for me too. It's not the ride it's the mahoosive drive home after when you are cream crackered. I'll try and get up that way more next summer, if I can lose the stone I've promised myself I will.

Cheers Glynn - yep it's coming up with 1.35 mins which is still over 3 hours driving but not as far as I thought. I'll keep my eyes on a date you pick.

Same 1.35 for me but that's a clear run, I have the joys of the m66 and m60 Manchester, Manchester airport and m6 bound so it's a real pinch point until I start to head through glossop. Not a good drive. But more than worth it for the riding around those parts!
I'm planning on joining hodgys mob in the lakes on the Saturday so would prefer wed or Thursday for some recovery time.
If the consensus is otherwise no problems. I ll catch it another time and have a steady local one on the Wednesday instead.

Used to do lot of climbing at Stanage, Burbage, the Roaches .. stunning area, I'd deffo be up for a guided tour on an MTB up that way when I'm fit again perhaps next year
I'm down Worcester way but as I said, I used to get up there with my climbing partner proper early, climb all day, and get back around 9pm .. proper fooked! .. but would be a waste of time at the mo, just not getting enough saddle time at the mo
Have fun guys

Still a 3 hour round trip, not my greatest pleasure, driving, specially after a long ride. Spose I'm spoiled by riding to my local trails.

Personally, the fact I can ride to my local trails trumps all that, plus the fact I am still discovering new trails on the Chase every time I go out. To me, it's not a competition, you see, I'm not in it to impress people, like some. I'm in it to enjoy myself - and I don't enjoy 3 hour drives just so I can boast on twitter..'Ooh, look what I've just rode' So feckin well Zzzzz...right back.
