so I believe it's a BB30 Sram adaptor? As you look at it, the right hand drive side part has stayed in the frame - but the other non drive side came out with the BB cup. My question is - once I get the bugger off the cup, will I need a special tool to re-fit it back in? something like a BB press fit tool? or will it just 'tap' back in and be pulled snug by the crank spindle? I've never seen this before and didn't even realise the Chiefs frame was made as a non threaded BB type

Oh well. Lesson learned. Looks like it was my own fault - having just fitted a new BB to the Bird, which was a piece of piss, I thought it would be the same on the Chief - since found out with these effin stupid adaptors you are supposed to drive them out, then remove old BB, then screw in new BB to both sides and refit to bike using a press fit tool.
So now I need new adaptors and then a trip to the LBS as I don't fancy buying 70 odd quids worth of tools to do it myself.
Arses. Effin, chuntin well arses.
Sometimes, I hate this hobby.

Does it need new adapters? Can you just make a press with some threaded rod & big washers?

Drove the BB and adaptors out with a makeshift drift ( I squoze my big, fat head into the BB shell and got someone to kick my arse until the cups came out ) then with a bit of TLC I've managed to wind both cups into the adaptors - result! I haven't got access to threaded rod or washers so I'll nip down town to Peloton and see if he'll just pop the BB's back into the frame for me - all is not lost!
