By 6 sodding arseholes with shotguns. Riding along a bridlepath through a field in a valley bottom there's a whole load of people on my right on the hillside and the guys with guns at the bottom. It's an organised grouse shoot and being as they were all aiming their guns away from me and they hadn't let off any ammo during my approach I took the decision to ride on behind them.
At this point a whole load of grouse take off, fly over the shooters heads and now I have 6 shotguns unloading in my general direction. Cue shouts of 'What the...?', 'Sorry' and 'f@#k!'. And a change of shorts for me.
Bloody landed gentry.

Report the bastards, they were breaking laws regarding safe RoW access, control of firearms regulations, and public order offences. Shoots like this should be named and shamed at the very least. I used to live next to a regular shoot and got so sick of drunk toffs with guns standing 25 yards outside my garden (and right alongside a public road) and lead bouncing off my roof I did report them. They received a visit from local police. They changed their operation. Where was this Andy? Would be useful to know so we can all avoid it.

A mate of mine used to help out a clay pigeon shoots, loading traps etc when a teenager. One day a feckin eejit shot towards him and he was hit. Lost an eye. At hospital they found something like 5 entry holes but x ray showed about 9 pellets?! Was confusing the docs until he confessed that years earlier (when was a bit of a rogue) he was up to no good and a farmer took a warning shot at him, hitting him. He never told anyone as he was terrified his mum would kill him for being up to no good. Being shot once is unfortunate, but twice.....
