Also to me it looked like you tried to lift the bike with your arms instead of compressing just before the take off point

Kind of what's already been said, your weight looks to be quite far back on the bike, try and get more forwards. Looked like your compression before the jump was a little late, try compressing just as the incline to the jump happens and not on the lip, hopefully that should give you more air time.

Cheers lads. It's hard to get any kind of consistency I think as it's coming at you so fast - but it's given me the jump bug. gotta go again next week Also to me it looked like you tried to lift the bike with your arms instead of compressing just before the take off point That's exactly right mate, I think it's a mental thing of "well I'm going up so I need to lift the bike" even though I've known for years that you're basically supposed to push down into the jump... but my dam arms wouldn't play ball! Either of these 2 any better?

also when my weight was further forward, the bike had a tendency to nose-dive. how do I avoid this?

find a balance between not being to forward and not being to over the back. also try to loosen up as its easier to shift your weight around in the air.. basically just keep practising and will come over time.

They weren't really jumps though were they... They were more rolling drop offs... Just carrying speed off the lip...

Tried jumping my 29er, at Cannock... Pretty poor effort... To be fair 29ers aren't made to jump, nor am I .... Don't mind fast drop offs...

Is it not supposed to be heels up when in flight? Toes down with pressure against the pedals?
Just started to practice my bunny hopping now i have the saint pedals on.. Clears my rucksake which was about 8" tall ..
Not a bad start ..

Oh, i wish i could jump but being in the air scares the crap out of me I've put the break on mid air ( on small drops) a couple of times now and its not ended well. I could pay for expensive lessons but its the confidence i lack.

I learned loads of simple things like body positioning and braking
I always thought my braking was spot on, but after I had my lesson I realised that I was doing it so wrong lol
