Nowhere near the bike Of Euans and MCFC's Commencals but I'm probably nowhere near the rider either. Horses for courses as I am more XC than DH in truth. Very nice! Looks like the perfect UK trail bike.
The only changes i'd make would be a 1x10 and to get rid of that massive red seatclamp! The Debonair will finish it off... Very stealthy!

Yeah - kind of like it as it is but looking forward to the Debonair too. It is great for what I like doing most of all - fast, flowing, twisty singletrack. I'd love to go back to 1x10 but just haven't got the legs any more for the tougher uphill stuff.

It's not a great picture but the smaller ones show the red anodized moove pedals I now have - they do look good in real life but yeah, anymore red would be too much.

Nice singlespeed too.
Not enough singlespeed bikes about.
Do you use it off-road?

Not as much as I should but yeah, done the Dog on it and some off piste - need to get out on it more but still got new bike syndrome with the Chief. The merida will be back in action once the weather gets shitty again, that was the idea of building it originally. Really like riding it and obviously a real challenge.
cheers.

Nice mate, looks industrial but not in a garden gate way, looks like it would plough through anything

Love this bike!.... Someone who has the gonads to be different, and not get specialised, cube, or trek.... Or..... Orange!

Yeah cheers. It sure ain't puurrrdy in the traditional sense and that was an attraction to me...you should see the Mrs!
It does pretty much batter over anything too - very forgiving of my rancid technique. Brilliant bike to ride pretty much anywhere.

I think it's a mint looking bike.. Not sure I'd say the same with a different paint job though!

No, you are right mucka - the anodised black is probably the only 'paint' job that would work. The only other colour option you got was a normal, paint finished, black fading to grey with white decals...looked bloody horrendous, tbf.

It is a nice bike. You just need to stop breaking it.

It ain't me it's bloody rockshox and their made of cheese products! Having said that, looking forward to the Debonair replacement shock that's on the way. Be nice to get me reverb back too - just didn't feel the same the other day riding on a standard seat post - amazing how quickly I got used to having a dropper.

Errrrrrrr....might be......
No the reverb had better be back! wouldn't fancy doing Degla without it now, but if I had to, I would - after all I've only ever done Degla on a HT up to now. the Debonair doesn't arrive til week commencing the 22nd but the shock I have now is perfectly rideable so no probs.

I do like the Chief. If I go full-sus I can see it being a choice between a Chief 1 and a Canyon Nerve 6.
