After seeing some guy the other week bleeding to death all over the trail. ( not really just a few big cuts all over his face ) Loads of blood. Had to get air lifted out. Thinking of getting a better ish helmet. What you think of these helmets?

That's horrific
If you're that worried, wear a proper full face

For Trail / Xc? ..is it one of the new breed of helmet with a detachable chin guard ? If not I just couldn't see myself wearing one for a full day ride .

Have to agree with Betty, full face or open face these hybrid things are horrendous

Do you think it would give you the same protection as a 'real' full face?
Would you be happy carting that guard around with you then stopping when you thought it was needed to fit it?
S'up to you mate.

Do you feel you really need it?
If we worried about everything that could happen to us we wouldn't get out of bed.

I wouldn't trust that to protect my face falling off a kerb, let alone a full crash. Takes 5 seconds to attach? It'll take a lot longer to remove all the shards from your face.
If you need a fullface, take one with you on your backpack.
