Ok chaps, i'm getting a sore spine due to landing on the top of my head when downhilling some years ago and it's the weight of my backpack that's causing it, mostly the weight of the water in it, i don't want to use a water bottle attached to the frame cos i hate the look of them, i need some storage to carry a basic multitool, spare tube, pump, tyre levers, so i wondered if any of you guys carry your hydration round your waist, what do you use? I looked around and the best i could find is this www.ospreyeurope.com/gb_en/pack-selector/talon-6-lumbar?#.VDlJH9TF-7M there doesn't seem to be much room for a pump etc though so i was thinking i've a very small camelbak to carry my stuff in, take the bladder out, and use a hydration belt but i don't know how practical this would be, any suggestions would be very much appreciated ....Ta much Kev

I use the Camelbak charge, its a great bit of kit, enough space to get tools, food and a spare coat in while still having a good size reservoir.

cheers guys, I should have said I don't want anything that has straps over my shoulders because the weight puts pressure on my spine so ideally i need something that just goes round my waist but has enough storage space for a pump etc, I suppose i could get a wee bracket for a pump to fit to the frame

This one does look promising though, wonder if i could use it without the shoulder straps ?

Try www.trisports.com ...fuel belt. It is a bottle system which fastens around your waist ..not sure how practical this is ..and I don't think there are any storage pockets..but it's an option... There are also bike mounted hydration systems

I'd either go with the waist belt Hodgy has linked or use a bottle and saddle bag. You say you dont like the look of them but its that or a bad back, and i know what i would choose!
