I struggled like hell just to get the tyre to fit over the rims, a lot of elbow grease and frustrating lever pulling which resulted in a black eye. Nobby nics on arch ex. Pain in the chuff.

I did uplifts at innerleithen a couple of weeks a go, and when I got home both tyres were flat. Just got round to repairing them now. My decals have been totally trashed by the tyre levers and I've ruined about 5 tubes by nipping them while getting the tyres on

Do they like some rims more than others then, or is it a diameter thing ? I fitted a Dampf and a Nic to my 26" Mavics and they went on pretty easily.

Yep pretty much, I've tried the tyres on my other rims and like you've said they go on easier. Just Stans rims and schwalbe tyres seem to be a tight combination

I think the rims are slightly oversized so the tyres are supertight.
after taking ages to get them just on the rim I was fearful of getting a puncture in the middle of nowhere and struggling to get them back on. However after the first time and a bit of riding on them they seemed to get on and off easier the next time.
The trick is to get the tyre in the centre of the rim all the way around and stretch it as much as possible down to leave a small amount to pull over.

I broke numerous tyre levers (they were cheapo ones) trying to seat my hand dampf on my crests. Liberal use of washing up liquid/water mix in a spray bottle really helped though.

Yeah you definitely have to get the bead in the centre of the rim. It's just a pain in the arse if you get a flat whilst out riding, I pinch flatted both wheels at Kirroughtree..... much swearing followed

I have a set if Crest rims, same problem. I think its a Stans thing for making the rim a tiny bit bigger which is great for old stretched tyres or going tubeless a ball ache othrwise. Ended up using my metal tyre lever which looks more like a screwdriver. Gets the job done though.

same issue here with magic mary front and hans dampf rear on a set of flow ex 650b with schwalbe super gravity tires. aswell i have also trashed a set of decals and snapped 3 tyre levers. i have noticed if they are on for a few weeks the bead does stretch abit so they are a little bit easier to get on and off but a real b*stard to get on first time. with the issue of the tubes ive just gone tubeless, just blows up and seals every time due to tight bead
