Definitely a nasty impact with the ground, deffo hard to say what went wrong other than something has knocked you off the side of the trail, what was your suspension set up like?
Like Moto says, it's a game of luck, I went tumbling through a rock bed and came away with nothing more than a badly bruised knee

Like Moto says, it's a game of luck, I went tumbling through a rock bed and came away with nothing more than a badly bruised knee I just over shot it from what I can remember/ see and what my mate said behind, hard to tell as the gopro makes it all look flat but I miss the landing of the small table and land on the lip of the next tiny jump and it just slows the bike to a stop buti keep my momentum You can see when I'm laid on the bank that there is a second jump I struggle with bunny hops and proper technique for jumps so I try to make up for it with speed, won't be doing that again!

Blimey - some serious butchery gone on there - you look like a Viking that's just gone 10 rounds with Olaf the Hairy You got the all clear for road biking already? that was quick. At least you have your age on your side so it should heal fast, at my age that would be game over. Cracking battle scar to show the Grandkids, that one is.

The official line I think is 3-6 months due to the risk of falling off but all the surgeon said is that I have to take it easy while the wound heals but in terms of movement I can do as much as pain allows after a week or so, the plate secures the bone together and I get no pain from that, it's just the muscles around it that need to heal. I feel ok so I'm sticking to cycle paths and trying to take it steady. Got a follow up on Monday so I might get a boloking but I'm keen to stay fit and active and if i get the all clear will start press ups and weights as soon as possible
