Finished my first full builde from a new Grand Canyon frame, a few new parts and lots of old spare parts. just going to get the tyres running tubeless and got a new tyre for the back. I will see how I get on with the bike and then I'm considering some new wheels as these have seen better days and the front has a unfixable hop in it. I'm looking at getting mavic crossmax xt or slr if I can stretch to them, both have white hubs, hence the white pedals. Oh and the fact that they were the only colour left apart from red in the 230gm nanos with titanium axles sale. canyon, Grand Canyon sl29 CF. large. running 120mm rebas but fiddled so they are sat into their travel a bit so the geometry isn't drastically affected. Ritchey carbon seat post. Fizik Ariione cx saddle, both from my cx bike. xt crank with hope T. rex expander. xo shifter, x9 clutch rear mech. kinesis strut 750 carbon bars. Sram guide r brakes, testing them and then may switch with my enduros if they are good. wheels whyte hubs. Wtb rims from my old whyte. maxxis ardent and ikon or minnion.

Very nice build! Attention to detail is great even colour coded the dust caps.

I just need to shake off the longest cold in memory and then I can test it out. It's come in a bit heavier than imagined at 10.6kg. I haven't gone for flimsy or narrow tyres but all I can think is my wheels must be heavy. This build below is 9.9kg without pedals, my pedals are 260gm so nearly an half kilo lighter and it's a double chain ring extra shifter and cable etc. the wheels must be damn light. I'll see how I get on as I don't want super light wheels that are going to flex to much. www.canyon.com/_en/mountainbikes/bike.html?b=3647

Is the weight difference not due to the forks?

It probably is 120mm rebas versus 100mm SIDS. I think there's a 200/300gm in the wheels. Priced up some sram roam wheels last night, 1530gm and fairly stiff.
I need to ride it first though and make sure I like the hardtail again.

10.6kg is still a very light bike! how light do you want to go?

A set of SID's and some lighter wheels and it may just beat the linked Canyons weight... It does look good

Realistically just as close to 10kg as possible, it was just by way of comparison to some of the stock build I thought it would be lighter due to be 1x10.
I'm pretty sure if I get some lighter wheels I will be happy. It's. Shame to have a race ready carbon frame and then hamper it with heavy wheels. Without spending silly money I can get some wheels weighing in around 1550 to 1650 which should knock another 250/300gm off where it matters most. I won't change the forks until the current ones are buggered or some SIDS present themselves at a give away price.

Yeh it's crazy to think its 20% lighter than the enduro and that's no fatty.
Unfortunately other than a quick run down the road to check the gearing and brakes I haven't had chance to ride it. Also not been on the enduro for 2 weeks due to stinking cold. I'm pissed off with missing some good riding opportunities due to a never ending bloody cold.
