I've had a Hope AM stem for around 2 years and it's been fine! Maybe you just got a bad batch.

yeah its not really ideal to have a bad batch when you have an uplift at FOD on tuesday  luckily for me ill just nick me 50mm superstar one of the hardtail temporarily while hope sort it out! |

it says set it between 6-7Nm and all bolts were 6Nm before the ride as i did a bolt check before i went out as the bike is newish and some bolts have worked loose the previous week and im now abit anal about torque settings. so i rule out the over tightening,

I've had like 5 different stems and not used a torque wrench and ive had no problems

I'm the same just wang everything up as tight as possible. The photo does show that it partially failed before snapping completely. Probable dodgy casting.

To me the darker shaded bits look like the casting has had time to oxidise, hence failed for awhile before letting go completely.
