Okay so at physio I was told that riding on flat ground or road was good exercise if I didn't over do it, But no MTB of any kind. Ive been doing around 6 to 10 miles a day, So nothing to much tbh, And so all was going really well. Then today my rear detailer decides to shear off and throw its self into my spokes, Causing the rear end to lockup as I was riding downhill ! I had cars behind me so i thought (as I was sliding along) "Jump the kerb" It worked as I avoided been hit from behind by any vehicles, But in doing that I failed to clear the kerb fully, Lost balance and landed quite heavily on my left hand. No cuts or scratches just a very hard shock to my shoulder, Hard enough for me to visit A&E, Luckily no breaks this time just another torn shoulder muscle and lots of pain from the impact, Also a stern warning "Not" to ride at all for at least another 3 months.
The thing i don't understand is how does a detailer shear when going downhill ? Id have thought if anywhere it would happen going uphill due to there been more tension on the chain set ! I checked the bike before i set off and all seemed good, I only serviced it last weekend as well, You know the Wash, Wipe,Oil, Tighten, Check, Wipe again and finish with a smug proud grin type of service.

Not so good mate, the good thing is it's not just you it happens too (look at MCFC's luck at the moment), just grin and bear it but do as the doctor say, no point rushing back into it. As for the rear mech, the hangers can go at any time, all it takes is for something to jump up and hit it, it doesn't matter what you are riding ether. it may not even have been hit when it snapped, it could have been on a previous ride and it's weakened it and it's just finally given up.

Christ...but you are having no luck. All I can say is I hope you heal well..and the sooner 2014 is over for you ..the better My first ride today after 4 weeks due to injury...my mates did 30 miles in the Lakes yesterday which I wimped out of as I had done nothing at all ..that would have left me seriously fooked!
Get well soon !

It sounds to me like bad luck mate, a few months ago my hanger went and killed my rear mech and a few spokes but I was lucky and not hurt.
Do as advised by your GP or you'll be sat on your backside longer in the end.
Get well soon.

Unlucky mate. I was flying down lower cliff when my rear maxle came loose and the mech destroyed itself against the rear wheel - luckily I was on a rare flat bit up there when it all locked up. You are having some proper shite luck matey.
