My first susser... have been looking and researching for weeks now... had a couple of demos, Kona, Orange, Santa Cruz (silly dream never affordable) And was strongly considering Rose or Whyte. But could not find any real examples to chuck my (shorty) legover... Last week after taking my HT in for full drivetrain replace to one of my LBS's who are Giant dealers, I saw this... Anthem SX 27.5 and liked it Is pretty close to being ordered... Seems like a lot of bike for the cash. They are offering a wheel upgrade, £200 for a tubeless setup on either DTSwiss or Hope hubs on Arch or another rim (which I have forgotten as he said it was more a lightweight racing rim). Seems worthwhile, but I know nothing of wheelbuilds really, except that I don't really enjoy the Hope racket. Other issue is Nobby Nic front, Racing Ralph rear, (both TL Ready EVO Folding) they seem to divide opinons... I'm about 65 kilos, 5' 6", and my riding is mostly trail/XC with trailcentre red stuff every now and then. They'll change the tyres for anything I supply, or that they stock, but I can't recall what they stock. They certainly don't do Maxxis, but I think I saw Continental and Bontreger on shelves. What should I choose? All and any advice, specifically about wheels/tyres, will be welcomed, considered and then probably ignored.

We obviously had a bit of a chat about this yesterday ..from a personal point of view I would prefer a little more travel on the shock ..is it worth considering an upgrade / will the bike take more without affecting things ? Feel completely free to ignore this !

That was one of my initial slightly negative points. But I may have talked myself round that one to a degree. I don't think I've got a real need for 150-160mm suspension, so I had been looking at 130mm as being a useful number. Having said that, the SX has 120mm forks, my HT only has 100mm, and the 100mm rear is obviously 100mm than I'm used to! Plus it has to be that longer travel usually equals more weight. The Process 134 which I demo'd weighed a lot and knacked me on the fireroad climb which I sail(!) up on the HT.

Nobby Nics will be fine, see if you can get one for the rear. It's what I'm using atm and they're fine, only had a couple of occasions when the tyre has slipped out frok under me but that was down to my poor line choice.
I think the racing ralph (or whatever it is called) might be too fine on the tread heading into winter.
