Just back from Newcasleton, the new extended sections were fairly good, the final decent was imo the highlight of the whole trail, wasn't too much a fan of the rest of it though, seemed to be a lot of up and down and the short downs werent really worth the effort, nothing really technical and just couldn't get a good flow going.... Bloody long drive as well lol.

Don Jaconelli has spoken ... At the risk of a horses head in the bed if I don't turn up .. I think that I should take his advice ...
Thanks for the feedback Euan ..bit of a mixed bag ... I have never been that much of a fan ...but usually do it as part of the cross border route from Kielder .. I am looking forward to catching up with the gang though ..and seeing things for myself. Saw a picture of Scotch Kershope at a meeting last night .. Wasn't impressed ..another bit of prime singletrack lost to the bulldozer and smoothed over for the softies !

As much as I said I didnt really enjoy it it was still good to try a new trail center, maybe if I had a bit more time I could have enjoyed it a bit more. Mind that the trail now starts in the village, just park in the car park across from the village shop and you should see a 7stanes info board, it's easy enough to see where the trails go from there. Maybe i'm just asking for too much from other trail centers. So far the only other trail centers that have come close to GT and Inners are Comrie Croft, Golspie and the Nevis Ranges.

I know what you mean ..using GT ..as a benchmark just about everything else falls short...unfortunately.. You are just lucky to have it as your " local"

I would agree that this centre seems to favour those who enjoy a climb Euan ... That said I really enjoyed the day and thought the climb from the village on the new section of trail utilised the contours of the hill really well zig zagging it's way up ..so that it never really hurt . We did both the red and blue routes in just under 3hours ..and it's only when you get back out with your mates that you really appreciate how much fitness you have lost through an enforced absence ... I also concur that the new final drop is real fun ...I think someone has taken berm baby berm at GT as the template for this section The pint in The Grapes was very welcome..it's a lot nicer inside than it looks from the outside. A not too shabby turnout either ..6 of us ..as always my thanks to and for the excellent company ..cheers Dave & Jean , Colin Barkin Mad ..fresh back from Uganda ..who being the generous type gave us all a dose of Ebola ,Graham (ish ) who is becoming more of a mountain goat each time I ride with him and not forgetting Paul ( the Don) Jaconelli ..who made us all kiss his ring ( fnaar fnaar...oooerrr) ...cracking ! And finally ..I'll see your Stane Euan and raise you two more l

Did you not get pictures of both sides of the stane?
