Absolutely worth the money, I thought I was a reasonably competent rider until I done a skills course, I was fairly skeptical on how much I'd learn, it didnt take long for me to loose that skepticism, I learned a bucket load!

I've done a couple to help me along the way. They're well worth it. Did one about a month ago and still got taught some brilliant tips that I never would have learnt otherwise. Pro Ride Guides are very highly recommended.

Myself and the lads and lasses who I ride with are all going to do a skills course in the spring ..I've been riding an mtb for about 20 yrs ..but we are all of the opinion that it's never too late to learn something new ..we are all in our mid to late 50's and above ..apart from Jean who can only be about 34 ...ish !

I did one last month - great day, learnt loads and had fun. Was going up and down inclines I would have walked before - great for confidence.

What is a ballpark figure on a price for a skills course are we talking about? been tempted but never looked in to it. The one I did was £100 for a half day one to one session, if you get a couple of mates to go with you then it was only £20 more per person and the price can be split between you all.

I don't know about their man down south, Ben Deakin, but Joe Rafferty was brilliant. I did a full day 1-2-1 with Joe at Hamsterley. Got loads done, and the uplift is quite useful as well.

Nice one, I'd be doing it at hamsterley so I'd imagine it would be with Joe. I think it'll be money well spent. Cheers fella

I've done a couple this year, for the first time, there's always something to learn. I wouldn't expect to transform your riding in a day (depending on your starting point) for me it was a case of learn the correct technique for a couple of things, then practice over the next few weeks until it becomes automatic.

I did a trail skills course at Cannock yesterday with the bikeschool. nothing too rad, just doing the basics properly (I thought I was doing them right,but.....) started with bike set up.i thought mine was spot on for me but I made some slight adjustments to levers, shifter and suspension.it felt terrible for the first 10 minutes but after that it felt like I`d been riding with them set like that forever.moved on to technique for flat, loose corners and then moved onto berms, choosing lines, spotting braking, entry and exit points.as I say, nothing too extreme, just ditching bad habits and doing it properly. maximum 6 riders but only 4 of us plus 2 guys who are doing the mias teaching course next week so it was almost one to one. £55 for 10am -3pm with 30 mins lunch brake. they also do a jumps and drops course too,£35 for 3 hours at stile cop dh course.

I had some DH coaching with a guy called Coner Martin.
Like most, I thought I already knew everything but I was amazed at what he taught me!
