Finally went for a bit of a change, lets see how my legs and lungs cope with this. Did put the 16t cog but it was not as good quality as the 42t so didn't use it. BeforeAfter1x10. 32t n/w front with Oneup 42t rear cog

I`m 3 weeks in since taking the plunge to switch to 1x10 and can honestly say it`s the best thing I`ve done to a bike since fitting a dropper post.i was worried that I`d miss the granny ring but I`ve ridden llandegla and Cannock the last couple of weekends and performed better on the climbs that I ever did before.i`d put the 16t on though.

it may be inferior to the 42 tooth, but it looks the same as a shimano xt 17 tooth cog. I love my 1x10, but i do change front rings depending on the ride i am doing ,i have a 30, 32 ,34 front so just fit which ever i think i will need for the day

The bike looks so much better with a single, it wont take you long to get used to a single, I kn ow a number of people who have made the change lately and they have all loved it straight away

Just been for a quick ride up the road. fells good. the bike felt very loose, checked tyre pressures when i got home, 10 rear and front 15 psi. That's what happens when she doesn't get ridden for over 3 weeks, she feel deflated and let down. I'll get my coat.

Just had my first proper ride with the 1x10 setup. Only had to use the 42tooth twice. Surprised myself how I got on. Had been using the granny gear far too often. Made it to the hut half way up to section 13 before I had to use the big cog. I can feel my fitness improving with this change, well pleased.

Single rings... Are all one needs!... Anymore than one ring, things can get confusing.
