Longer forks (more travel) You win. for some reason I wasn't feeling the 150mm at the front so I managed to find an airshaft for a 160 pike and swapped them over, it's not a huge difference in height but it seems to make the bike feel more balanced without hampering the bikes uphill abilities.

Mud can gater around the bottom of the fork stanchions, and tyre clearance can be an issue. I didnt like the mucky nutz, I was always getting crap in my face so decided to try a Marsh Gard, it's not much longer but it makes a difference, I still get some in the face but nothing to cry about.

I know wot your saying just didn't think they would work for the xc riding , the amount of crap I get , that blocks my nutz one up is back a big long mudguard like that would be rammed and grating ... Like mad .. Would drive me crazy , I'm not anti mudguards well I am when my mate puts one over his back wheel I just have to take the pee as its flapping about .. Or twisted to one side lol

A hydropack is overkill for rides where I just want to get out and do a quick loop round the Pentlands, all I need is a cage a bottle and a mars bar, the Spectral has a low slung toptube which made getting a bottle in and out of a conventional cage a bit tight, a side loader will be much better.

I take my bladder out of my Camelbak Lobo and chuck a water bottle in for quick loops of the Dog.
