As suggested after last weeks Hamsterley ride Colin Barkin Mad to lead the ride ...starting in Alnwick ..heading out to Warkworth..Amble Harbour ..Alnmouth , Boulmer..DunstanburghCastle ..and a twiddle back to Alnwick ..nothing too strenuous using some minor roads , tracks and bridleways ..and it wouldn't surprise me if there were one or two cheeky bits . A nice chilled ride taking in the spectacular Northumberland Coastal scenery ..looking forward to it ..as Colin says ...it's something different !

You can't beat a banana fritter, like..
It's that peese (however it's spelt) I can't get on with..
I'd love to do a bit of riding like this so I'll keep me fingers crossed that you put a ride on here for when I'm oop Nurth.

So will you be using the (mostly) coast and castles route?
I rode that a few years back from Newcastle to Belford and loved it. We were going to do the coastline to Edinburgh but the next day I could not even sit on the bike without major pain so had to ring Mrs spacemonkey to rescue me.
Will do it again at some point as i feel it's unfinished business!

To be honest I'm not at all sure of the route ..Colin, who is leading the ride lives in Alnwick and being a Vet knows the area very well ..so it should be interesting !

Fantastic ride today ..34 miles in total ..but very wet and muddy ..even though the day itself was really bright and sunny ( eventually ) . As expected there were some cheeky bits ..which can't be mentioned .. But this is a ride to be re-visited when the daylight hours are once again in our favour Many thanks to everyone for a great day and especially Colin for showing as a great route . Pics to follow once slow bucket has uploaded

I woz there. F'in fabulous day. Days like this are two a decade. Or less. Heading mostly north on the north-east coast + zero wind + brilliant low winter sun lighting up the ground before us against a backdrop of cloud bank and fog to the north + the unshifting surf spray due to zero wind and heavy seas.. wish i'd had my camera.. but still photo's can never capture the magic of such days. But I still want to see hodgy's. All over far too quickly. I'd have done another 20 miles happily but no lights in my pack. Thanks to Colin for a most excellent adventure, including some tracks I'll never ride again quite possibly. The usual suspects are all to blame.

Sounds like you had a good time. When I got my motorbike that was the part of the northeast I went to, stopping at Amble for chips of course.
