Gentlemen, following my minor "off" today I've decided to get some knee and elbow protection.
I've followed the link given on here to the Start Cycles sale and fancy some of these 661 EVO jobbies.
startcycles.co.uk/sale/661-evo-mtb-knee-pads-6862-05.html
I'll also be looking up the Troy Lee ones recommended by MZ.
Your comments and opinions are welcome. TIA

To be honest, the riding I usually do doesn't really 'need' them per se, but I know for a fact that the day I don't is the day I'll end up in a wheelchair for 3 months.
Less about making myself look cool, more about minimising the potential damage done and minimising the risk, it is a dangerous sport but that doesn't mean the padding isn't needed.

Great pads.

The EVO ones are mint..,...but they stretch once they've been washed!!!
So i'd recommend getting a smaller size.

I was absolutely wounded cos my evo ones fit so comfy but then they just stretch and slip down your legs
using IXS carve ones atm and they're the best pads i've had (bearing in mind I have had fox ones, troy lee ones, sweet protection and 661)

And probably once i've tried them will still prefer the NP ones. LOL. I did try about a dozen sets before settling on the NP ones. My usual CRC trick Everyone does that lol Most of the time I have the stuff returned before the money has even left my paypal!!!

I had same problem as Betty with 661 slipping after being washed! Have had Knox Armour ones for the season now and they are amazing. They are, by coincidence, a local based Lake District company, Cockermouth, and sponsor the Scottish downhill series. Not cheap but amazing quality and style.

I use IXS knee, Evo I think they are called. Will never wear elbow pads. I've had so many crashes over the years, (4 broken bones in 5 months this year) motorcycle style high sides and low sides, OTB a couple of times and off the back, never once hit my elbow

He's the sort that wouldn't use them off he didn't like them, sponsored or not.

Could do with elbow pads... Particularly for my bad left elbow. Might stop me catching it...
