I know that its all been done before, but now i have one of each i did a test , same run on the two bikes, one friday one today and the 29 was quicker on all sections, and by some great margin on the down hill bits.

I did have both and the cube Stereo 29er is much faster agasint my Lapierre that i sold . i did Ae Red & Blue today and on the uphills it just felt easier once in a rhythm. I will test my Scott carbon hardtail in a couple of weeks see if its any different as that a 26er

If what you're riding puts a massive grin on your face then who gives a flying rats ass what wheel size it is?!
Personally I think the real debate should be over seatpost diameters. Personally think 27.2mm seatpost are designed for wusses and nancy boys.

Did something similar and it was night and day, but the course was XC and one bike was a FR180 :/ I've attempted most tracks on the 29er and i've no issues. On the tighter stuff you just have to be smarter with your line, more like the racing line, but it's down to fun and i was enjoying riding the 29er soooo much more. The flats and ups weren't taking it out of me as much, so could push everywhere, harder. thats how i feel the two bikes i did it on arent miles apart, as they both have the same head angle and both 1 x10 with expander and 32 tooth front. and allso the same suspension well the 26 has 10 mm more but that is it , the seat is set the same as both have droppers only diferance is the 26 is 1.3 kgs lighter but that should be betterso 29 wins for me

I've sat on one, but the battery was dead, weighty.. And was uglier than my Alpine5... I'd have a go on one... But they don't interest me...

Yep they are weighty ..I have tried a Haibike full sus 650b fox bounce front and back and it was unbelievable in " turbo " mode ...the problem comes when the battery packs in and also on any ride with a bit of hike a bike I will have one when I turn 80 and arthritis had set in ! Tremendous fun though ..give one a try you might like it !

Aye ..true enough I just meant he should try one in general ...preferably a mtb specific bike ..don't think he would fancy a " gentlemans bicycle " with a shopping basket and panniers ..but I would pay a small amount of money to see a photo of him doing just that !
