Anyway, base layers wore them this morning seemed to do the job under my jacket well enough

Yeah, back on track...base layer needs to be fairly snug to work well - I just wear a baggy shirt on top so as not to look like a burst sausage skin

I spoke to a couple of running mates last night. They've got some Janus stuff which is Norwegian and top quality. Normally Janus tops are about £50 but they got them for about half that through Sports Pursuit. Apparently you have to register with them then they let you know what they are going after next and you bid a price.

Just in case anyone's looking still, Mrs W just came home from Aldi with a 100% merino base layer for £19.99. It's listed as skiing gear.

i've just got a merino dhb one from wiggle and a short sleeve windslam base layer. The windslam material is on the chest and helps to prevent wind chill. So reading through the technical details it basically has a windproof front!
i have quite a bot of DHB stuff and have been very impressed so far for mid range gear.
Don't get them until the 25th though

I read on your strapline that a bread knife can also be used to cut cheese.
