right ,to prevent this getting too complicated, we'll have a vote from 3. for anyone who's fairly sure they'll be making this ride. we'll then make a decision by this coming weekend. the 3 vote options are:- 1.peaks 2.a rosedale ride 3.bowderdale

I'm not voting as I'm not sure if I can make that date ... Having just got back from our Scottish trip the previous week..I may have to jump through a few hoops / don't know if man or machine will be functioning properly..

This is the longer route, ill update my thread with proper directions. www.strava.com/activities/334115162You do pretty much the same as the other ride, but branch off on a road section, do that loop counter clockwise, the bit out is savage singletrack thats like the surface of the moon, road climb and then a fire road back. Id be along but ill be on holiday that week. Dislocated my shoulder last week, so stuck doing rubber band exercises and crap road rides. If youre doing this and provided i'm back to full health i can do a lap the week before and report on bog conditions...

Glynn, why don't you pick where and when and we'll all turn up and ride haha that would be much simpler! im just trying to pick a route that would attract most interest.

If I can make it ...Tim's route is the one I would choose purely based on the fact that the majority of it is on tracks I have never used..The Peaks are too far for one day ...and I have done a lot of the iconic stuff around there. Bowderdale I've done 4 times now and although its good ...it's nothing new ... But as the odds are more against me getting there..dont count what I'm saying ! Tim's ride though looks to be class ... I will canvass the rest of our lot to see if there is interest...

Just for info ...there is only 3mins difference from Burton between getting to Sedbergh and Rosedale Abbey ... That's only 15 mins. longer than my journey ... 2hrs 35 for you Gaz.

Aye that's a fair way out ! Jack I was just responding to the fact that Glynn had said earlier in the post that Gaz probably had the furthest to travel...and only doing a comparison between the two locations in terms of how long it would take him to get there . Obviously it will take you longer ..but there shouldn't be too much difference for you to get to either in terms of how long it actually takes ...to each location
2hrs 38. To Sedbergh 2hrs 34 To Rosedale According to RAC route planner

Surely he would want another crack at it now he's stopped falling off with those silly pedals. Nah mate, it'd be just too easy now... But really, I have done it twice and don't think it's all that. Also very eroded and landslipped last time bound to be worse after this winter. I would hope to be recovered from our Skye trip the week before, and that being the case the full Rosedale is the only one to interest me. But it will also be good to save it for another time when Hodgy and Timbo can do it. So, if the Dales or Peaks etc suits the majority tha's fine too.

I still think the Bowderdale Ride is a classic ride ..and that Graham's judgement of it is tainted by the fact he chose this ride to go clipless ( with painful consequences )..so fully understand why it wouldn't be at the top of his list .. Just to add to that....I was quite shocked the last time we went down Bowderdale itself as to how badly it had eroded ..what had been a skinny ribbon of flowing singletrack just a year or so before ..no longer was ..with natural erosion and increased activity due to its popularity making it very stop start... The return leg had much more "flow" to it . Of course I didn't get to ride this section on the forum ride having had a mechanical 100yds into the ride ...but by all accounts it hadn't improved . All I would say if this is your chosen route ..avoid completely if the days leading up to the ride have been wet ...
