Really like the scalp frames. I fancy picking one up. I'm struggling to find the time to ride just full stop at the minute They're a total bargain mate, I don't get that much time to ride either but I know it's there when I want it

Well I've finally got my Scalp finished today and I'm over the moon with how it's turned out. Can't wait to get out on it and give it some abuse. Full spec is: 2014 Nukeproof Scalp Rockshox Kage RC Marzocchi 380 C2R2 Mavic EX721 on Hope hubs Schwalbe Magic Mary DH Saint Crank/36t chainring Saint chain device and bash Saint rear mech Saint shifter Shimano dura ace 11-28 cassette Saint brakes with 203mm rotors both ends Chromag direct mount stem Chromag fubars 780mm Chromag Lynx DT saddle Thomson seatpost Lizard skin Peaty grips Shimano DX pedals I'm pleased with the spec, just think the shock lets it down. If needs be I'll replace it at a later date, but for now I'm just gonna enjoy it for the summer. Here's the all important pics

When mine broke, I decided to try and service it myself instead of faffing on sending it back to Germany. Bought a seal kit and a couple of tools that I needed, it was pretty straightforward using the tutorials on YouTube to be fair. Mine was fine after the service but broke again about 2 weeks later so sent it back and it was replaced under warranty. Go for it though Michael, it's really not that bad

Yea last Friday/Saturday there was a 24 hour 'Premier' where you could watch it for free on Pinkbike... I missed it and now when you go to the page it's just the trailer on show... boo! I also missed it then lol.

If I remember back to riding my Cube Ltd Pro it really is more of an xc machine. As soon as the terrain started to point downwards with roots and rocks thrown into the mix it would try and throw you over the bars at every given opportunity with very sketchy handling. It was also a bloody harsh ride as well. I thought it was the dogs bollocks at the time but now I look back, it was far from perfect and out of it's depth a lot of the time. It now belongs to the wife

Had a one up components 42t, couldn't get it to work so ditched it and just went back to my 11-36 and had to mtfu a bit. Make of that what you will I doubt you will get your zee mech to work with a 42/44t, my medium cage xt mech wouldn't work with the 42t cog. You may get away with a 40t expander though (I'm sure low cogger has a 40t with a zee mech).

Also got to say that at £5,000, the spider will remain just a 'want'! You'll be able to do it way cheaper than that, just buy the frame then build it up yourself

Mid travel bikes like the Scout are the future I say. As much much as I love my El Guapo it's a pain in the arse when it comes to climbing and although it will plough through anything you throw at it downhill, all that travel dumbs down the terrain if I'm honest. That's why when I come to replace it maybe next year I'll probably be going for something mid travel. I've been looking at the Scout, Santa Cruz Solo and the new Intense Spider 275 which is at the top of my list at the minute Totally agree with you there Stu I think I have made my feelings known in the past about what I think to the SC ...5010 / solo ..quite simply the best bike I have thrown a leg over ..so far ! It transformed my riding without me getting any fitter ..especially on climbs and having tested it at GT I can honestly say that it wasn't found wanting when you pointed it down . My gen 1 Nomad with 6" travel front and back is like a fucking Chieftan tank chasing a Bugatti Veyron in comparison! Have you tested any of the other bikes yourself yet ..or is this based on reviews ? I know you rate the Solo pretty highly Neil. I haven't tested any of the bikes as of yet but they have all had very good reviews. I'll not be replacing the El Guapo any time soon as I'm still building up the DH bike and I dare not even mention another new bike to Mrs TypeR without fear of being killed to death lol. When it it is time to replace it though it will be for something with less travel. You don't need 160+mm of travel for trail centers and days out in the hills, a good 130/140mm bike with modern geometry will be all you need and probably a hell of alot more fun That Intense Spider is feckin pure bike porn - that colour is amazing as is the rest of the bike. Want. Isn't it just, seriously want

That is exactly what I'll be buying at some point this year. I did read right that it will still be compatible with current 10 speed chainrings?
