I sooooooo wish I'd have started riding in my teens or something! I guess I'm still young enough to do all the things I want to do though so it's not all bad! How old are you if you don't mind me asking?

Gonna be the same for everyone, mines the same, not getting into it early teens, in fact late teens would have been best, got my job at 17 had no commitments, rent free earning loads. Could have had whatever bike I wanted

Too true ! That's why I really like the idea of electric mountain bikes ...I really do think that when the time comes where I / any of us face the reality that we can't do what we used to be able to do ..these machines will be a godsend in terms of being able to do what we all love ! The combination by the way was 057 ..so years of pedalling yet !

Absolutely none, this is my 26th year in the saddle and I've loved them all, rode my first mtb at the age of 18 when i was in the army, it was a 1989 Kuwahara 18spd rigid and i blasted it down through the Troodos mountains in Cyprus, from then on i was hooked

So I started aged 12, I don't think it's as advantageous as you think. I relied soley on parents to get places and spent most of my time envying slow middle aged men with uber tricked bicycles. I think its a classic case of cash rich / time poor or vice versa when you are a kid
I also don't think I am particularly good or fast given my long standing riding heritage, maybe that could be down to a lack of natural talent or the fact I never threw myself into a regimented training pattern. But then again if you are a kid you wouldn't think like that.
I was well skinny like, I rode a Kona stab dh bike everywhere when I was a yoof, with dh tyres, wish I had strava on then because I would be double my current mileage

Actually I reget not having gone to whistler or done a season in the Alps. I can't see me ever getting to BC now I am married with child and that eats me up big time, especially when your fb free is filled with childless manboys having a time of it (mostly in bc)

Yes I echo all the above. I was quite a fit lad in my 20's and 30's and regularly ran 10 miles a night after work plus playing a decent level of footy Sat and Sunday and all the training that went with it.
Would love to have applied that fitness to this sport but, hey ho, it is what it is.
We're the lucky ones, remember that babby up the Chase last year Jay?
No regrets mate. .

Not starting earlier like most will say, but letting addictions rule Out on my bike i realise that my lifestyle needs to change, i love biking and imagine how good/fit/fast i could be. Put the bike away and i go back to my old ways. Yeah ,yeah ....but isn't sex meant to keep you fit too ?
