I am keen for this, is it instead of the Dales group ride?
Also are people thinking of staying up on the Sunday? Its a long way for me for a day trip (8hrs).

The folks coming from the North East won't be staying over as it's a fairly short hop ( 2.5 hrs) compared to your journey ..I'm not sure about Glynn . What I can give you is another short ride for the Sunday if that helps ..map & directions . This ride though is a little gem ..never touching the heights of Walna Scar , Gatesgarth or Nan Bield passes ..it is though in my opinion far more entertaining and at 20 miles packs enough climbs and drops to more than keep you entertained with a bit of everything thrown in ! The route even with the aid of a map and instructions is quite hard to follow ..a few of us have done it more than once ..and I do have the benefit of my View Ranger App to keep us right if ever in doubt! The route starts at grid ref NY306 010 which is a car park near to High Tilberthwaite which is signposted off the A593 the road between Ambleside and Coniston. It's quite a convoluted route with lots of loops ..you could get quite dizzy ! Lots of highlights but one of my fave's comes late in the ride ..after a slog up some Grizedale Forest fire roads the drop from Lawson Park on a bridleway to the shores of Coniston Water is fast , rocky & rooty ..grin factor of 10 ..if there aren't to many ramblers about ! I will leave the start time open for discussion ...hope a few can make it ...copy of route to follow ..don't try to work it out ..it will fry your brain..especially as MBR did one of there many cock ups ..point 3 on the map is actually where we start the ride!

Unfortunately I'm just flying back from a week around Punta Ala on the Saturday, if it would have been a Sunday I would have tried to make it.
Are you planning anything for the 9th or better still the 16th or 17th. I would jump at the chance of a guided ride around south lakes, or Yorks, Grasington or that way on.

Kirky ..don't know if that was aimed at myself or Glynn.. After this weekend I'll probably be staying in my little corner of the country prior to going on our 3 day Arran trip on the 23rd May ..the lakes ride being the following Saturday ..which will either be kill or cure in terms of how my legs are feeling ! You get about though you little jet -setter !

I didn't want to start another Borrowdale ride thread and derail the one already in place but I think theres a few of us that might want to head up there before the end of July and got the idea you might like to as well.
Jet setter me, I wish! This is the extent of family holidays for the off term time these says, a flight to Pisa and a lodge on a camp site, just happens to be Punta Ala area, the Mrs doesn't know that theres the odd bit of MTB going on around those parts.

Kirky ...don't know if you mean BowDerdale ..which is the ride we did last week ..or there is a Borrowdale ride out of Keswick ..which is good in its own right ..but one of our group has been shown a version of the ride with cheeky bits which is supposed to be even better ..and we are waiting for him to show the rest of us ( he often rides with another group ..) ..hopefully sooner rather than later ! I will let you know when ..

Sorry I did mean Bowderdale, I'm always getting the two mixed up, although I would be up for the other as well. Bowderdale is maybe 45mins to an hour closer with a nice ride through Gisburn and Settle for me heading from Burnley way.

Sounds good ..but just to say .. I usually " lead " a ride from the back ..and from what Gaz was telling me yesterday we might need a two way radio to keep in touch ...

hodgy, the photo of the MBR route you posted up earlier, is that the exact intended route? and is it possible to indicate the direction amongst all the loops? im going to plot it on my basecamp for my garmin. I know you might be busy getting sorted for your arran trip.if you don't have chance this side of it no probs........enjoy arran! plenty of quality pics please!
