Sorry folks ..looks like the odds are against me making this ride .
Was planning on going out with Ian tonight ..so was checking the bike over / about to clean it after the weekend ( haven't had time since getting back ) when I noticed a massive amount of play in one of the rear shock bearings ..feels like the bikes about to fall apart ...
Tonight is out as will the weekend be if Ian hasn't got a bearing kit in stock ....
The bearings themselves have a lifetime warranty from Santa Cruz ..it's just getting them in time ..and Ian will need to check it over first ..
The earliest I can get it to him is tomorrow afternoon ..so this ride is not looking hopeful
I will / should be sorted for the Goathland ride the following week though ...

I wouldn't ask Ant ..the bearings are covered anyway on a lifetime warranty .
I'll do something with the family instead ..they haven't seen me on a Saturday for god knows how long anyway ..and it's only one ride !
It might well be a quick fix anyway ..but I doubt it ..

Info for everybody's comfort and convenience, last time I was at riverside car park (a year ago) the toilets across the bridge were closed, as in derelict.

Knowing that this plays an important part of your build up to the ride ..there are public loos on the way down to the car park after turning past the Newcastle Hotel they are on the right hand side ...

I haven't been to see Ian yet Ant ..I'm taking it up to Kielder tomorrow .
I was going to go up this afternoon ..but spent most of the afternoon on the phone trying to solve a work related problem and truth be known my legs were feeling it after two hours of badminton this morning !

Ant - will be there Have you explained to your good lady how things work - you Paul Dave and Grum race off ahead abandoning any thoughts, if you ever had them in the first place, of looking after the ladies. As I am from a generation where someone had to look after the gentile sex I deliberately will go slow to make sure that they can cope and encourage them to be brave and go a little bit faster. So Ingrid remember to humour me even if it means feigning a funny turn that requires a dose of the vapours - especially as my apprentice who usually assists me cannot be there!

Your apprentice has seen at first hand on the Bolts Law ride the sort of pace the ladies set off at !
Never mind going slow ..you will need to be on top form just to see them disappear over the horizon ...

I will just have to get comatosed watching Manure give us our yearly Old Trafford stuffing on Sky ..
