It's your food you need to worry about, on numerous occasions people have been woken up and found their food missing and it is believed to be a young shepherd who was left on his own up there by his cruel father one winter and he starved to death because they couldn't get food to him, there has also been a couple of reports of a loud wailing and this is thought to be his remorseful father looking for him, I don't believe a word of it though, sleep tight bothy men

That bloody wailing noise ....Graham ...snoring ! I've shared a room with him on the Calderdale trip last year ..what a farking racket For someone like myself who would rather lie awake all night than disturb my fellow roommates ...it was pretty hard to accept .... Note to self ...ear plugs from pharmacy this morning

So ..zero hour is almost upon us . The X-Trail is loaded with lots of camping gear essential for surviving the night ...the most important being the Irish Whiskey & a few beers ...and I'm hoping that's the only spirit ghostly or otherwise that I see through the night! So get this kit to the bothy with Gilly & Alex ...travel back down to Stonehaugh to pick up Graham bike & kit ...get some fires going while I go back for my bike and then pick up Colin, bike & kit at 4.30pm Travel back to Bellingham again for early evening meal & then pick up Russell, bike & kit from Tarset Tor at 6.30pm ..where he is leaving his car ( not riding Sunday as he is working ) ...back to the bothy where it's goodbye to the missus & Alex as we try to survive the night .. .haha...and await our riding buddies who are joining us on Saturday morning ...

Well we are back ..and we survived ( just about! )...and yes there is a tale to tell & pics to share ( lots ) ...but that's for later and maybe not even today .. For now I just wanted to thank a bunch of people who not only is it a privilege to go riding with but also to count them as my friends.. So ( in alphabetical order) ...Ant,Colin,Dave,Graham,Jean,Paul & Russell...thanks for a fantastic weekend which will forever live in the memory. Could I also say a special thanks to my Missus ..Gilly ...Without the ferrying around of kit & supply of bacon sandwiches...the weekend wouldn't have been possible ..Love, Hugs & Kisses x
That totally rocked people !

I won't steal Hodgy,s thunder as he is a much better wordsmith than me, just to say it was a laugh a minute from when we met up with the four bothy men until we parted companylast night, the report will be epic

Although we missed the fun and games on Friday night, we saw the aftermath, it must of been some night, I'll let Neil divulge the secrets of the bothy men. We joined up bright and early Saturday morning for what turned out to be a tough and enjoyable day followed by an excellent night in the Tor bothy. Today a slightly more relaxed ride getting us back to the cars, again I'll let Neil explain. A big thanks to Neil and his missus Gilly for organising and support, we couldn't of done it without you and to our fellow riders, I felt sorry for Russell as he went off to work this morning at 6.30am. A brilliant time.

After an email late last night and out of respect for the sender the tale of the bothy must for now remain a mystery to you all .... I actually thought that he attained in my eyes cult hero / legendary status and that's how the story was to unfold .... Seems that what happens in Green Bothy ..stays in Green Bothy ...which is a real shame ...

Friday Evening OK ...so the story of the evening will remain untold in terms of how events unfolded...however what I will say is that involved a large bottle of Sloe Whisky ( yes Whisky) ...which was truly delicious and made by CBM..a 1 litre bottle of Talisker supplied by Russell and a 700 cl.bottle of Tullamore Dew...Irish Whiskey ...supplied by myself ... By morning all that was left was 3 fingers of the Irish Whiskey ...oh did I forget to mention that these were accompanied by a selection of Golden Ales...and a bottle of wine ... Shortly after Myself & Russell's arrival [/URL

The evening warms up
Errr yes...! Saturday to follow ....

Sorry if you are waiting for me to write something.... It was a brilliant weekend which had a huge damper put on it late last night and I'm just not feeling any enthusiasm about writing anything at the moment....

The course of the bridleway over this 50 yds section ran through the seedling trees to the very left of the picture...perfectly rideable if you were 3" wide ..so this was a yomping section.. Teamwork...passing the bikes through a windblown trees section Jaco & Ant ( don't look Kirky ..Jaco had his old helmet by mistake) Jaco...happy to help !

did you leave the bothy and do any riding hodgy? or was it just a drinking trip? It could quite easily have just turned into that ....if it were not for the fact that others were turning up on the Saturday ... More pics to follow ...
