Actually if I had taken on board that info correctly ..I can now see that where you said to leave the ride at Braithwaite ..cuts a significant chunk off the ride ..your version being 36 miles and day1of a multi-day ride .. This must be the route on your blog ... Don't know if I would have made it out of bed for the second day ?!!

Here is the fully cheeky route: www.strava.com/activities/410804390It's a hike a bike up Cat Bells, and obviously when you get to Braithwaite you can follow the cycle path next to the A66 back to Keswick rather than complete this route! Gives me more of an idea looks like a long drive again for me lol ...

Hahaha yeah you got that write the second time, you stop at the 27k mark, on the elevation map that's just before the mother of all ascents! Bash is easy done in 3 hours with food stops at bottom of each descent.
Yeah that's the route from our TransLakes weekend when we camped in camping barn in Ennerdale. We were pretty stiff when we woke up for day two and had to hike the classic 4 passes route!

Not sure yet ..Ant & myself ..obviously..but anyone from Russell , Jaco , Colin , Graham , Dave , Jean , Karl ..Nick and I would hope all of them ... Dave & Jean had their fair share of water on Sunday at the trail build at Kielder ...which most probably influenced Saturdays decision ...( not wanting a drenching both days ) I haven't yet sent an e-mail behind the scenes ...which usually grabs their attention more than the forum to be honest ..

Let's hope the weather improves, it's been biblical around my way today with little let up forecast all week. 50mph winds forecast tonight and into tomorrow. Looking forward to more of xc type ride in the lakes taking in more of the stunning scenery.

We should hopefully make this (weather dependent - just to cover ourselves in case we wimp out again), having done it a couple of times before (but not the cheeky bits) and both times got a good soaking maybe third time lucky, however it is the wettest valley in England so I won't be holding my breath.

...agreed it has been bloody horrendous up here too ..but the ride itself is nearly three weeks away ..and I have it on good authority that there is going to be a heatwave that weekend ...

I'm still feeling hurt that you bailed on me after I traveled 190 miles to come up and see you guys

You're not wrong there mate... I haven't got a clue what i was on about either.... but happily i did avoid falling down anywhere which must have been well on the cards as I'd been in my fave boozer in Northallerton for a few hours. The Tithe Bar Big up the Tithe Bar ... very special ales from all over the world but mostly Yorkshire. Had too many pints of something wonderful which I couldn't even remember the name of, but just found it on their facebook page.. CLOCKWORK ORANGE by BadCo. Brilliant name for a lovely lovely ale, they also do one called Comfortably Numb which I think I had a good time with last time I was there also But I do hope to make this Bash ride, despite knowing that wind-up merchant Gaz is gonna disappear into the distance, uphill and down..! Even more so if wor Russ is snapping at his heels again haha!

Graham .. Glad that bar you were in had no hyphen in it's name ...you could well have had a close escape..The Tit-he Bar conjures up something quite different ! Those real ales sound spot on though ..I'll have a pint ... Just had a look on their website ..nice little pub ..I reckon the web -site developer must have also been on the lash ..repeats himself twice in as many sentences ! Like the alcohol related quotes which constantly change on the side of the page ... Favourite being .." Absinthe makes the tart grow fonder " www.markettowntaverns.co.uk/tithe-bar.asp?Tavern=Tithe-Bar&Section=Main

Gaz that must be the Christmas version of my name ! ( lol) aww shucks you changed it ..( Noel) ! I can't lead this as I was following you ...( Ant) and as you know from my e-mail yesterday my participation is also in doubt due to the sick -bug that has laid low both my son for the last week ..and my Mrs from Saturday night ..Iwould like to think that I'm going to be lucky enough to escape it ..but wouldn't bet on it.. I think a roll call is needed both on here and also behind the scenes ( for those who don't use the forum too much ) to see if this is still viable When making that call I should also point out that according to my weather app.it is set to rain from Thursday all the way through to the following Tuesday ..just in case that influences any decisions.

I have a weakness towards sinus/URT infections and as I also have a COPD condition it then feels like I've got a flu-type thing. But I don't have the sweats or aching joints, just swollen throat, runny nose, dizzyness, fatigue and headaches. Right now I just really can't face the idea of a wet and windy bike ride. So in order not to do a last-minute withdrawal (never recommended..) I shall pull out now and hope that this ride gets a reprise at a later date. Best wishes to any who still make it.
