Seems a bit overkill to me.. This ^ As a rule of thumb - it would worry me having a cassette bigger than my rear rotor

Just put a cog bolted to the rim and run a 150t rear, you'd be able to ride vertically up walls
But seriously, if you need to run a 50t, then probably a 1x10/1x11 drivetrain isnt the right thing for you! I've got a 34t chainring with an 11-36 cassette, and i've never wished for anything more. Maybe if i was in the peaks, id drop the chainring to a 32 but thats it...

Btw, I'm not even considering this for a second! I agree, if you need this, maybe you should go back to having a front mech! It's getting a bit ridiculous really! 40T at the back for me is enough! 42T would be a bonus.

It's gonna get to the point where you'll need it, because your back wheel weighs so much!

IF you buy a 50t expander then you may as well just fit it to your e-bike, while wearing your best pink lycra onesie.
Sorry Neil, I'll pack it in now.

What's the actual point? Your rear wheel will be turning that slowly you may as well just get off and walk......... Plus I tried the one up 42t and it was a big steaming pile of shite! Do it properly and buy a proper 11 speed system

It's true - on some climbs when I am knackered and in the 42t pussy cog - I'm pretty sure an asthmatic ant with some really heavy shopping could overtake me. How bloody slow would a 50t be? would it be possible to be that slow you'd actually start rolling down the hill backwards? Doesn't have to be 1x11 now either - saw and test rode Eurobob's new Sunrace MX3 wide range cassette yesterday - very impressive, lovely and smooth shifting and a 42 built in - I'm getting one for sure.

No your freehub won't allow you to roll backwards, unless it's a cheap Superstar piece of crap!

The point is so you can change your front chain ring from say a 32 to a 34 giving you a better top end while not sacrificing your climbing ability.

Yes, it's true about your front chainring - 36t if you are superfit, I just don't see the need for a 50t?
S'pose you have to also fit to suit your bike - I've got a plain old 32 front, 11-36 10 speed on the Bird which easily out climbs my 42 tooth pussy cogged, 30t front chain ring Chief.
