No that's allowed as it's blingy, and cool... If it's gold...gold is always cool! That's the answer for E-bikes...make it a gold one and sorted!? Lol Nah..just give them away with stair-lifts at home... Gloria Hunniford would love an Ebike...

No...of course not since it is mechanical...otherwise, you can argue that hydraulic brakes are also cheating, forks, etc! However, there is something nice about riding the most simple bike you can! So Shimano DI2 Is cheating? No, of course not...like I said before, otherwise hydraulic brakes and all the other developments would also be...they obviously assist you in other ways and make you have a better and more pleasurable ride...the word mechanical there was probably not used appropriately! Put it this way...if it's used in the olympics and professional sport, it is not cheating!

Does DI assist physically? Or mechanically?.. it's a means of shifting more efficiently supposedly... not physically assisting you up a hill..

Because a motor goes against the basic principles of the sport...changing gears, etc if its by a mechanical cable, hydraulic, electrical, etc, is not! And I dont think it gives you an advantage anyway...or at least a considerable one!

Surely an electric motor is assisting you through a mechanical means!!!

If your not 100% using your own effort it's cheating IMO you can have a 55t cog on the back but it's still 100% your own effort
E bikes should be separate to Mountain Bikes it's a different sport IMO

Adam What makes you think that I like riding my normal bike any less than before ...I love riding my bike ...and can't see a time when I won't ..I have " tested " myself against the best of what's out there ...and failed on a lot of it! What's not to like about climbing something that as long as I have a hole in my arse I would never be able to conquer under normal circumstances and actually riding all the way to the top ...or would you rather push your bike up because you haven't "cheated" yourself ...do me a favour! I'm not (even at my age ) looking at this type of bike to replace what I've got...but rather to complement it and the one thing that I have in my favour is that having tested one for a full day on a mixture of testing terrain ...I actually know how good they are and how much fun you can have with one of these machines.. I feel sorry for you that you will never experience that ...I guess some people are just so stuck in their ways they just hate progress...and so self conscious as to how they look to other people . Me ...I don't give a shit lol
