If you can't climb it by peddlin up it you push it your not climbing it when the motor is helping you up it ... That's not you that's the motor ... Kind of a cheat thing .. So a bit like an uplift day then? ;-)

Hey up ..what's all this then ? Having been out for the evening I'm only just checking my phone / forum this morning....to find my son has been in a debate about e-bikes .... Seems to have held his own though ...but then he was up against someone of the same mental age as himself ..... What was that you said about winning?...lol You're son? Please don't say you've passed over the shit bike gene to him too!

So a bit like an uplift day then? ;-) We touched on this before.. That's DH... A discipline where you ride down a hill as fast as you can... The whole conception is you get from the top to the bottom as quick as you can... Uplift is or how you get to the top is irrelevant...

29rs don't have motors which is why nobody mentioned cheating. And for XC racing, they are the best IMHO! 29'ers are now the standard for XC racing...

Someone has been fishing today I see For all its worth I want to try one of these. I wouldn't buy one but I am interested in the engineering that goes into it and the concept. In all honestly I don't think its for me but that doesn't stop me from wanting to hop on one for the day. Each to their own, I think people need to remember that. What works for one person may or may not work for someone else. Food for thought here

We touched on this before.. That's E-biking... A discipline where you ride a bike that's electrically assisted on any trail you like... The whole conception is you get out on a bike and enjoy yourself... Ebike or not is irrelevant... Couldn't agree more

Lol just read the entire thread
The way I see it is for the normal, able bodied rider, these bikes should not be replacing their main bike, but if you have the money (as some of you have thankfully pointed out that you do) then why not. If it means you can go out after work and get in a few more miles of descending then why not. You may not be testing yourself on the climbs as much, but any time in the saddle is good time, and you may be improving your technique on the DH sections by riding more.
Yeah, most of the e-bikes are ugly, and some of you will probably winge when someone on them beats you on Strava, but at the end of the day, those riding them seem to be happy whilst everyone else is getting so worked up about them!
I won't be owning one. I dread to think what sort of debates their will be when I'm getting to the age when my legs can no loner pedal me up the climbs. However, if you're at that age now, or you have the money for it, or if you just fancy the idea, then why not! Average riders on here can go spend £££'s a year on their bikes getting the top spec stuff that they probably can't tell the difference between that and the lower stuff and that they'll never be able to push to the limits but they still do it, so I don't see why someone who likes the idea of an e-bike shouldn't be allowed one either...
As Hodgy says, don't knock it till you've tried it. I haven't tried one, so I'm not going to be coming onto this forum and slating it haha!

A week on and we are still deliberating on somebody's own opinion and choice. I thought single track was the destination for trolling.
