That guy said it better than I ever could ...the key to that read being (for me ) that you could climb technical features that would previously have you beaten ..but the main thing being how much FUN they were . Like the bloke said there are always going to be haters and it was never my intention to force my opinion on anyone ...only to tell you that I had an absolute blast and I'm now a huge fan ....and to ask nicely that before passing judgement to at least have an extended ride on one ....then I will respect whatever opinion you might have ...

Will be interesting to see how all these haters feel aged 60 and having to avoid riding an E Bike because they are sticking to their principals

I couldn't care if someone has an e-bike or road bike, 10 gears or 12 gears, 26" or 29 ", 2 wheels or 3 wheels. I will buy what suits me at a given time and if that's a e-bike then so be it. For now I don't need or want one, but I am open to anything and not daft enough to say never. When I was 18 I never thought I needed a pair of rockshox Judy's and loved my v brakes, now I want front and rear suspension and hydraulic brakes. Life changes, go with it or not. Your choice....just be happy.

*opens own bag of pretzels, pops own can and sits back in deckchair*
Naah, if it's the only way I can still get out on a bike, I'll have one, if I can afford one when it comes to it.

Good article and I will definitely try one at some stage. However, it would have to be when my mates are on one otherwise it might get a bit lonely!

The argument, is they've made mountain biking easier... to quote "that you could climb technical features that would previously have you beaten" plus pedal assist.... they also look gash... and rate amongst the same level as ghey road bikes (only my opinion) and I have tried one.. but to draw a line under this... if i was a ghey, old, withering mountain biker... that fancied a new penchant in life.. i'd buy one!!

But let me ask you a question ...dont you ever want to climb features that would have you beaten ? By your own admission on a previous post / different thread ..you have ridden around a car park for five minutes on one ...hardly an in depth assessment ...and you are basing that trivial pootle as your review of its capabilities ...quite frankly I personally find that laughable ...but then your welcome to your opinion ( for what it's worth )

Ahhh! No fair! you said you weren't biting! Liar, Liar, bums on fire! I have to admit and sorry for jumping in, that my answer to that is a resounding 'no'. To me, the whole point of taking on these features, is that I am challenging myself to see if I can do it, if I can't do it - to try and improve so's I can. Now, if I'm using a motor to do it - where's the challenge in that? so what do I do if I still can't do it? just go out and buy a bike with a bigger motor? No, not for me. Hodgy that doesn't mean that you are wrong, just that we don't share the same opinions on it. In fact, no -one's wrong, we are all right because it's just our own opinion on what MTB should be about. See? we all win, we are all right and no- one has fallen out. *sits back with a warm, fuzzy feeling in stomach*

No ...no biting and you are also welcome to your opinion ..I really don't mind What I find quite amusing are that people have such strongly held views when they haven't tried one ( I don't count five mins around a car park as having tried one ) I can respect your stance a good deal more ..you don't like the idea of one and don't want to try one ...fair enough...I can dig that baby !

If you can't climb it by peddlin up it you push it your not climbing it when the motor is helping you up it ... That's not you that's the motor ... Kind of a cheat thing .. Just not for me yet maybe when I'm 55/60 or some illness takes over when I can't mange on my own fair play.. But not interested in them at all ..
