While not a brand that I would immediately turn to ( maxxis fanboy) these tyres were married to the i29 rims by the same brand which were standard on the T130. The Vigilante 2.3 on the front and the Trail Boss 2.4 on the rear .. I've got to say that so far I have been so impressed with the set up ..they are fast rolling and also have great grip and seem to be a do-it-all tyre ... I'm sticking with them for Autumn & Winter ..and will report back ..

I had a go of them a few months ago on a demo bike and liked them too. Did everything I asked of them. Nobs didn't look big so I thought might not be that grippy but they seemed to do their job and I think the lower nobs helped the rolling resistance on the fairly dry, packed trail I was on iirc. Keep us up to date on the long term test.

Would it be fair to say that these are similar to the Hans Damph??

I'd say that the vigilante is better than the Hans Dampf, I just feel that it had more grip

I may have a look into these for my 150

Quite possibly Roundie ..it the way it was set up at Wheelbase ..I thought it may have something to do with the boost axle on the rear ? Sorry you didn't make it today by the way ...

Me too, I was gutted I couldn't make it, however I'm working 20 mins from Dalby forest tomorrow so the bikes in the van for when ive finished. (Hopefully about 10ish) Yeah it could have something to do with the boost setup, but I notice that they do the rear in 2.25 so I'll have a look at that.

My brother has used a vigilante for a while and he rates them pretty highly

That price is certainly fantastic...however that is not the version that I'm running ( or rating ) ...that's the tough high grip while I'm on the light fast rolling .. Just my personal disclaimer in case they turn out to be shite ...

Mine have turned up, not fitted them yet but they are heavy. As long as they are ok in mud I can put up with the weight

For £29 for a pair of tyres it's worth giving them a go.I could probably offset the extra weight by removing some of the mud from my bike

fitted mine on Saturday and rode them on Sunday. They went up tubeless without problems but the sidewalls did leak sealant for a while. Seem pretty grippy to start with then I didn't think about them for the rest of the ride which is the sign of a good tyre for me. Didn't notice the extra weight but I did clean my bike before I fitted them

Hard to believe I know but there was that much mud on the wheels I'd no choice really. One of the guy's on Sundays ride did ask if I'd got a new bike, everyone loves a comedian

Yep,changed them both. Didn't want the rear having more grip then the front.Running about 22psi in the front and 25 ish in the rear.
The real test will be Wednesdays ride as its a real bogfest

Bit of an update ..my sidewall on the rear Trail Boss took a hole from a jagged rock today ...bought some of those stringy rubber pluggy thingys to try & repair it ..but it's having none of it ! New tyre ordered from CRC..as I like this tyre a lot and I'm just putting it down to bad luck . I will have another look at the damaged one once it's off the rim ..maybe clean it up a bit and put a boot on it ..

OK ..as much as I like these tyres the light fast rolling versions are proving to be that way because there is f**k all rubber in terms of side wall protection ..my replacement tyre took a small gash yesterday ..wouldn't repair with Stans and had to have a tube inserted ( many thanks to Gaz ,Dave and Jean for their patience & help while faffing with it ) . I've had another one of these sent on a warranty claim from CRC...but for now I'm just going to run the current one with the tube in ..to try and get a little bit of value out of it ! If the new one shares the same fate ..that's it . Great tyre but too short a lifespan for my liking

Pity that as I rated it when I tried them on a demo bike. This can often be the trade off between weight and toughness. When I get schwalbe tyres I go snakeskin for this very reason. A little bit more weight but tougher and tend not to get any sidewall issues.

I tried the WTB tires this weekend, I really like them. I have the heavy ones though and while its noticeably slower rolling the grip was proper good. Just what i needed for the steep bits at Innerleithen. Will put a proper review up soon with pics.
