Glad I found that one up for cheap then! Hopefully get away without needing a new chain. I went to works components factory today to get a narrow wide but the owner said he has none in as they have tweaked the design and they are all in with the anodisers. All they had in were lairy coloured 32t's and I want a black 34!

Think you'll be ok on the chain, I only had to replace mine as I am sticking with 2 upfront for now, but will go 1x10 for spring I reckon. You got a bargain on the expander, did it come with the 16t cog too?
Unlucky on the narrow/wide - did he say when they would be in? I'll be after a black 32t.

Took mine out for a lap of Gisburn tonight, first time with the two extra ring at the front removed and the narrow wide fitted. Only used the 42t one up to test it and it shifts better than I expected. The 32t n/w did what it was designed to do so no more chain drops and even better no more chain slap

If you don't use a 16t to replace the 15 & 17,which ring do you ditch?

It's the 17t and the spacer behind it. The 42t come with a 16t free now though. Mine shifts really well on a XT shadow+ long cage mech.

Moto- He said the 32T should be in by Monday but the 34T would be the following monday. I'm hoping my 42t comes with the 16t too to get rid of the big jump. If not for 25 quid it's not a deal breaker!

Pretty sure that the 2014 42t cogs get the free 16t too. Cheers for the info mate.

Well, although I've not fitted it yet I ordered this part yesterday morning and it's arrived today at work. Recommended seller so far if anyone else is looking for one. Question is I can't find a shop with works components rings in stock so do I wait two weeks or go get a Hope one from Leisure Lakes? The climb at Hopton on sat is going to be interesting on 1x10. If i can make it there I can make it anywhere!

I was just in Leisure Lakes 5 minutes ago, for once only spent £1 on handle bar end plugs as I lost one.

Job done. Just gotta hope everything is tight for Hopton on Saturday. The lowest gear is a lot lower than I expected with the 42t, and the highest much higher. I need to tweak the cable tension and b screw adjustment but so far so good. I've done some steps a few times and a 2 foot drop off and it hasn't spat the chain off yet!

Mine seems OK. Sure it's not as smooth as it was with the 2x10 setup because of the chain line but it's not walking down the cassette! Will tweak tonight and see how smooth I can get it.

Seem to work better with a KMC chain, must be something to do with the profile of the chain and/or shifting chamfers on the ring...

I've only been up and down the road, off a few kerbs (like a big 52 year old babby ) but it was changing lovely. Bob you got the Hope 40t because they seem to have issues? I'm running the One Up 42t, have removed the 15, 17 cogs and a spacer that was between them and put the supplied 16t in and a new KMC 10-93 chain. Cut the new chain by letting all the air out of the shock, bottomed it and ran the chain around the 42 and big ring but not through the jockeys, then added 2 links and cut there. Faffed about with the B limit screw and re-indexed - seems fine but won't know for sure until later when I go up the Chase.

Hey Pez did you find it a very tight fit to get all of the cogs on?
