I'm still doing it... Just not as a forum ride. A friend I regulary ride with has done it. And said after the climb its just a techy plod, nothing serious.. He did it in under 4 hours last month... But I agree some people may struggle, and factor in the weather, and all that!..

Yam a brave man.. We were racing nightfall at Afan which was worrying enough!
Our mistake was waiting for the cafe to open at 10am and then scoffing for 30-45 minutes.

This ride sounds like a contender for a "longest day" adventure.

Unfortunately I was unable to rally anybody into doing the loop before Crimbo. On the back burner for the minute.

That's a pity ..but myself and a few more from the North East ...would be up for joining you spring / summer next year ..I've done the ride 3 times now and irrespective of the weather you will love it ...more so in the dry though!

I'd be up for this again. To get your juices flowing here's a video I did the last time I did it with Hodgy:
Good decision postponing a group ride to the dryer months.

Sedbergh...a bit of quiet lane warm up ..then a sustained climb/ push before you get to the good stuff ... A 7km downhill through Bowderdale ( first half of vid ) the second half shows some great narrow singletrack on the return leg

And so you should be ........its not called a classic for no reason! Just be aware though that what you saw was an edited version of all the best downhill bits ...and none of the climbing . I dont think that " brutal " is too strong a word to describe what you have to ascend before you get to the fun bits! I'm canny crack at the back though!
Always funny seeing yourself on vids...Im the bloke in black with the red camelback ...wrong choice of colour for that particular day as it was scorching and I was sweating like a pig !

Good stuff. I'm not misled though mate, I know you have to endure the climbs to enjoy the fun bits, proof of that is that bloody horrible 1 hour climb we did at Afan on the W2 trail , people will just have to wait at the top for us oldies (well, just me tbf).
I've got a few month to work on fitness, so I will.

Great vid Andy - you looked like you were on a motorbike at times! Nice editing and tunes too. Ride looks fantastic, but I can imagine in inclement weather it would be a totally different story!

Thanks, Nah, Hodgy is just really slow on the downs even though he's got a Nomad. Just been looking at my strava data for the ride and the moving time was only 3h 24mins but with all the stops/waiting for the slow ones/tyre explosions (bloody water bars ) it took about 6 hours to get round I think. www.strava.com/activities/67107214Some photos: s1075.photobucket.com/user/andyrutter/library/Bowderdale?sort=2&page=1Hodgy is the one falling in the river - another good reason why not to do the ride in winter. Think they're 2 more after this one.

He neglected to say that I'm even slower on the climbs ! Now it might just be me ..but even though I came to grief in the stream ( I did it on purpose to cool down ) ..I didn't do a girlie wimp out by stopping dead in the middle of it ..like that bloke wearing the head cam .....!!

Brilliant photos - I think it would be a shame if we didn't do this ride in similar weather. Looks perfect.
