As is getting a tad claggy now my panaracer is not happy with the mud had problems in the wet today not shedding mud which isnt good on the front.
Any suggestions on something a bit grippier and better at shedding mud?

My HD and before that the Nobby Nics get rid of mud pretty well. If you want a cheap option then the On One Chunky Monkey is a tyre designed for UK trail conditions and also works well.

Reckon a monkey fit through a set of Fox alpines with Stans crest rims? The rims 24.4 wide apparently. Mind you ive got a rubber queen on the back so i doubt itll be much of an issue! More just the fork clearance.

If you drop On One an email they'll let you know. The Chunkys were going for £14 when I bought one, not sure what they are now mind.
Still got mine on my single speed, not the lightest tyre in the world but a bloody great one for the price.

Just had a nosey, on-one quote it as needing at least a 19mm internal diameter the crests have 21. For £20 and the reviews ive seen im sold on it. gives me an excuse to get some winter gloves as well!

Even at £20 it's a steal - it grips like poo to a bum hair too. Just got back from taking the single speed around the first section of the Dog - damp and slippy but the Chunky didn't miss a beat.

More just the fork clearance. I run a chunky Monkey on Crests, had no problems and went up tubeless easily.Really grippy and a bargain

The on one tyre?.. I got one hanging round doing naff all.. Planned to bin the shit thing!... Which tyre? Chunky Monkey or Smorgasbord and which compound? I use a CM in trail extreme out front and a Smorg in Trail extreme on the back and really rate both of them. I've never tried any of the other compounds though

42a is a softer compound so gives better grip. (or thats my understanding of it)
