Do not watch the BBC forecast. Just don't.
I've got to take the motor for a service tomorrow morning so no can do. Be interested to see how badly the contractors have damaged the great Fairhaugh track. Hopefully not but Ant reckoned pretty badly. Not tempted to go via Barrow Law/Barrowburn/Fairhaugh instead? Go on. You know you want to!
Cracking ride out for anyone who lives in the NE and has never ridden the area.

It's almost a venturi tube and as a shelter it is extremely cack. Noticed on the KTR facebook page that All along the Watchtower/Superbowl have been finished - how're they now Neil? Looked way better in the vid (as in AATW now leads into superbowl).

Lovely bike - very jealous...... but.... but.... a roadie cassette!?! (Yes, I know it's for the reduced range but still: ) Also, how the hell do you get plugs into those sockets without knackering the cable coming out the plug? .... .... .... I've been spending too much time on STW...

So I'm going to tell you all about it! Being as I'm now a fully paid up member of the Tyne Valley MTB croo I'm getting shown loads of cheeky trails and cracking singletrack that I didn't know existed. Last nights ride was taking cheeky trails to a new level though so all I'll say is the ride was based around Rothbury (on the north side of the valley) and included mucho rocky technical singletrack (including mini Dalbeattie-esque slabs), rooty & loamy forest paths and cracking needle thin moorland paths with a lovely descent on the Sandstone Way (who says that isn't technical?) to finish. Some photos: The Coquet & part of the restored mill that was on a George Clarke Channel 4 program a few years ago. Riding the extremely cheeky stuff (not me): My bike in the summer evening sunshine (yes, I know I've got to trim that cable. I'll get around to it sometime in 2018...) Lakeside: Heading up over the moors: Cracking sunset: Didn't get any photos of the really fun bits as they were too much fun to stop. Not going to post the route either as I don't want to get lynched! It was also the first night ride of the year where I didn't need my lights. Hope you all had a good ride.

Could it be your tyre deforming on the hit and the tiny rubber injection mould spikes on the sides of the tyres brushing against your forks? This has happened to me, took me ages to figure out what it was.

Laser dick!
In other words - point your crotch in the direction you want to go. Only read this on STW a few weeks ago but it works: cornering confidence and hence speed is increasing.
How to pump a jump properly - Andy from Dirt School. I'm still crap at jumping though.

Nice pics Neil, it was a glorious evening wasn't it? Here are a few from mine. Walter on the banks of the Tyne: Top of the sandy chute in Dipton Woods. We paused here as Ted wanted to get some photos going down the rock steps so we gave him a few minutes to set up. That is all.

www.strava.com/activities/303987067A most enjoyable ride out on some cheeky bits along the Tyne (don't fall in!) then up to the woods including the most excellent sandy chute. Ted took some photos down there so we'll have to see what they're like. Almost all of it was new to me but it was bloody good. Hope you guys had a good ride and that section lived up to expectations.

Well, no serious damage seems to have been done. After fitting the pushloc the forks and going for a few small test rides they still seem to function as they should. But now I have more supple forks over the smaller stuff. Which is nice.
<big sigh of relief>

Just been prepping the 29er HT for the c2c in a few weeks and thought I'd fit the remote lockout to the forks (Reba RLT) for the road sections. It was during this I realised that the default position for the damper is the locked position and you need to fit the remote to get them in the open position. Which means I've riding around on them for over a year locked out. Arse.
My excuse is I've got some older Reba's on my old fsr and their default position is open. Never even thought to check if the design had changed. Always wondered why they didn't feel as nice as my older fork.
Best give them a full service pronto.

Cool. Thinking about it you'd be better making a gpx file for people to download as you can't download routes from Strava unless you're a paying premium user. Easy to do.

Cheers for the update Neil.
Volunteering for strava duties, Sah!
I've wanted to do this loop for donkies knowing how much you lot bang on about it.
Good old FC red tape.
Playing devils advocate I guess the FC have to consider the needs of 'the total muppet' who when reaching a felled tree would have no idea you could just walk into the trees togo around it/another route and would attempt to climb over/under/through it and end up impaling themselves up the chocolate starfish. Good old 'elf an safety.
