I'm not that daft Neil. Almost, but not quite.
Although saying that if someone does find/nick your Garmin they can quite easily find where you live anyway by opening up your recorded rides and seeing where they start from. Or see if you've set your 'home' location in the settings.

I'm sure I read on either Alex's or the KTR facebook pages that this wasn't finished yet. Just tried to find the post at work and failed miserably. Email Alex and moan - you know you want to. If that is the finished state it'd be a shame as that is a most excellent stretch.

I just found this tip yesterday My Garmin now displays my name and phone number on the boot up screen so if I do ever lose it I hope the person that finds it does the honourable thing and gives me a call.

Right, got a bit of a compilation mish mash video 'cooking' on Vimeo - shall I post it up here or in the proper vids section? Be warned it's nothing special especially as the best runs (imo) were ruined by the mud/rainwater/wet leaf that all chose to stick to the go pro lens - and with it being on my bonce I didn't realise it was dirty - so the footage is from before the rainstorm, unfortunately Post a link to my vid from t'other thread and claim it as yours. No one will ever know - it has got Neil in it after all. And a bloke in spuds falling off.

Inside - thanks mate good suggestion, I'll get on it. As Jimbo says don't want to try and do Bowderdale as a first ride back so I'll wait til Sunday and have a steady one, perhaps do the Cannock Blue or something and take the climbs steady. Being injured is shoite but I mustn't whine too much, a riding buddy bost his ankle at the weekend and is looking at an operation to right it. Ah, here's a nice exercise then. Sit on a chair with your bad leg sticking out in front of you, turn your foot so it's pointing away from the other leg: lift it up slowly (doesn't have to be high) and slowly lower. Repeat x 10. 3 sets twice a day. I'm not a physio but I did have this exercise recommended to me for quad strengthening when I had a problem with my knee.

Inside or outside quads?
Ice it, compression sleeve for a few hours a day and after exercise, stretches and light strengthening exercises.
As long as you don't go bonkers on the ride you'll be reet, did the tour of the pennines with hodgy at the weekend with a slight tear in my groin and it didn't get any worse. Just be sensible!
Have I mentioned a compression sleeve? Get one.

I did it on a 100mm travel FS and didn't die. You'd be fine on the HT too but depends on your physique/riding style/arse pain resistance.
Zulu - have a look at my vid on page 2 of the other thread to see what the terrain is like.

Nice photos Glynn. Always liked a ride out around there way back when.
Neil, I'm not surprised that bloke ignored us: we'd just ridden through that bog and smelt worse than the toilets at Glastonbury.

Here we go, no fancy edit or pounding metal or gnarrrrrrr factor. Just 4 minutes of cracking moorland singletrack.
This is the Carriers Way heading back towards Slaley Forest.
And here it is. Especially for you Neil... (can't believe how Geordie I sound in this)

Yeah, cheapest way is added on to house insurance. I'm with morethan and they aren't too bad. Cycle cover covers any bike up to £1500 at home / away. More than that and it goes on as a declared item. Worth it for the peace of mind IMO.

I don't use strava to chase KOMs, I do it to share rides with mates who aren't on garmin connect/find paths I didn't know existed. I'm on both but I keep all my rides on garmin private.

Just depends how fit you are really. Looking at my strava track on P2 of this thread it only took 3.5 hours to get round (moving) but with all the stops (including pub lunch in Ravenstonedale) it actually took something like 5.5 hours to get around. Don't underestimate that first climb - it's a git. You think you've got to the top as there's a trig point and a little bit of a down but then it goes up, up, down, up, up (pass the crampons) and up a bit more to the top. Then there's the fact that Whinlatter is another hour away. Probably better to do a natural loop in the southern lakes if you must. Be an epic day whatever you manage.

Indeed, absolutely craking ride out. Legs are feeling it a bit today though. Here's the route for anyone that's interested. www.strava.com/activities/330245438Thanks for organising it Neil. Apparently if you want to get better at climbing become a farmer... I'll try to post some videos later. The soft southener in those photos up ^^^^ is the only one without a jacket.

Was going to put the SB8 on the back but looking at the forecast for a bit of rain in the morning think I'll leave the HD on. No lakes jimbo, just miles and miles of moorland singletrack.... If I remember I'll be taking the contour to do a bit of filming of Hodgy in action.

Think we'll be doubling the population of Whitley Chapel. Forecast for the week is rain on Weds but dry for the rest of it. Looking promising.

Gaz ... no it's a tiny hamlet called Whitley Chapel a few miles SW of Hexham ... I was only referencing Hexham as the closest town for somewhere to stay . Hmmm 3hrs 21 ... 179 miles .... Any one fancy car sharing sarky .. Think is busy Andy is away ... ... Go on... you know you want to... Neil: having never ridden the bit of the route from Hangman to the carriers way is it really better than just hanging a left and shooting back down to Kings Law (which I think is great)? Ah, who cares?
