Yea the Red was good although it’s a black without a question. Marketing is the reason they class it as Red I feel, they have on the site that Nevis range have the only gondola accessed red route.
I’m going to be moving the Hans Damph from the front to the rear and putting Magic Mary on the front. Did take the pad but I didn’t need them. Will need them in August haha.
That would be good, just keep me in the loop if you know of an uplift everyone can attend. The more practice on the steep stuff before FW the better.

Agreed lads, everyone will have a different opinion on bikes that’s the entire point of having different brands / styles / colours. Same goes for all aspects of life, cars, food and hobbies etc. If everyone liked the same thing we would be a right boring bunch would we not? If you take my Banshee for example, people might not like the looks or performance because its alloy, its heavier than new carbon ££, the rear triangle looks like it’s made from steel girders and the frame looks thin. However, I like it and that’s why I bought it. I would still like to know other peoples opinion on it though whether they are good / bad / indifferent. Mate, if you like the Orange then buy it. You will be happy with it as it’s something that you want to own and not something that has been bought due to s spec sheet. That’s how I like to spend my hard earned cash, because I like the thing I am buying. In my opinion I was on the bench about them. Didn’t “like” or “dislike them”. Having been about MTB a little bit longer now I am starting to like them more and more due to the way they divide opinions and have that sort of industrial look like the Banshee. Whatever you decide be sure to get some pictures up when you do get it .

Cheers Euan, I managed to get a few decent ones as I had to keep stopping to let my hands recover haha. The "Red" trail is really good, had a proper good time on it. Although I would debate over it being classed as "Red", those rock gardens can be lethal.
Doogs, the bike handled everything that was thrown at it. Really like the bike. Although while there I noticed that one link on my chain is very tight and it will need replaced as it was causing my chain to come off which has never happened before. My rear tire has also seen better days....being a pussy on the breaks has shredded it haha.

Ok so a few of you know that I headed for FW early morning Saturday 14th May. Left the house about 6am and made it to FW about the 9:30 mark which is good going with a stop along the way. The idea was to get the gondola uplift and bike one day then watch the BDS the next day. Had no idea what the weather was going to be like as I didn't check but FW certainly didn't disappoint. Anyway here are a few snaps of my time on the Nevis range. Obligatory stop at Glencoe Red Giant trail Full face helmet was put to the test shortly after this Still cheesing though Banshee looking spot on Perfecr weather in FW I will will post day two up tomorrow once bad from work.

Arisaig is some place. I’m heading up that way (FW) next weekend for two days and I will be taking the bike.
Will have a look online for some nice trails to do. Hopefully FW is open for the gondola however the weather has been terrible recently so it may not even be rid of the snow yet.

I know it was hike a bike most of the way up. Not the best of day for quick riding but still made for a couple of decent photos that i otherwise wouldn't of taken as I would be too busy peddling.

It was an experience riding in that level of snow, hike a bike on the way up then point, shoot and hope for the best on the way down.
Haha no, that was at the back of the car at the start of the day.

I will do. I tried Inners before and I did the Minch Moore climb and decent which was good but tiring. On the way back down I tried the lower section of gold run to the car park. Found that tough as I wasn’t carrying enough speed and my leg were shot from the day of constant climbing. Everyone has told me that there is way more to Inners than I have seen. Need to try the golfie out soon.

Edinburgh area for me mate however we could work something out for the lads heading up from down South. I can drive a few of us from the Edinburgh area. People can ditch cars at mine then I could drive from Edinburgh onwards. That might help everyone’s fuel situation?
Haha the learner DH track might be a shout. I am going to head up mid-May anyway to head up Ben Nevis. I will take my bike and explore the Nevis range so I’m not starting from scratch with you guys.

Hmm, I’m usually about the 11 stone mark so I may look into getting my own then. Guess that means I will have the gear I need though. Cheers. Will do, once we have dates set I will book well in advance, booking in advance also commits me to the weekend which is good.

Alright mate, I am very keen for this as I want to get better at “downhill” or more extreme riding so to speak so any help is welcome. It would also be good to head to FW with a group of people. Think I will be there mid May anyway but heading there in August as well would be good. What sort of time scale do you travel to? Would this be a case of the Friday & Monday off work or do you manage without time off? We travel up on the Friday, stay Fri/Sat at hostel, bike for the Sat/Sun and then travel back home on the Sunday after we are done with the biking, or if the biking has done with us and we get injured, if you purchase a 2 day Gondola ticket then you can get a partial refund for the 2nd day if you get injured or your bike gets busted..
Alpine bikes do DH hire for £80 per day for just the bike, £100 per day for full armour and FF helmet....., but I am sure a few of us has some spare body armour tucked away somewhere, I know that I have some and also a used FF helmet..... LOL, the DH track is manageable on a 155/160mm travel rig....
there is a possible 3 of us so far, 4, if you are up for it...... I will warn you that the DH track is full on in yer face and scary as fook in parts...LOL.
All sounds good to me mate time wise as it will fit well with work. Well I might try a full dh bike for one of the days then, hopefully that will provide more room for error haha. I will have my own ff helmet by then as I am slowly picking up the gear as I progress but thanks for that. Although I may have to take you up on the offer of the armour as I don't think I will have that. I will have the standard knee & elbow protection by then but not sure about the body armour. Well ill I am currently riding a Banshee Spitfire with 160mm pikes and a 140mm cane creek, should be idea for the Nevis red trail however I may struggle on the dh run. Well count me in for August, date depending that is but I should be good regardless. We will just have to wait and see what happens with the dh track haha. Might be ok might not, I will have had a summers riding the get better by then so hopefully I can manage. If not I will fire onto the other trails and let you bash on.

Thanks a lot for this guys. I have since been back to glentress and Inners along wth local rides and unfortunately the only way so far to reduce the pain is to ride slower. However, that's not on the agenda as I like speed so I will look into both of the above as I am willing to give anything a try to see if it helps. Cheers guys

That looks really good. I tried Inners on Monday and I couldn’t really find that much. Did the big climb to Minch Moore then back down and some of the red trail was disappointing as it was a small decent then some randomly placed rocks and another climb. After reading into it I think I was in all of the wrong places and I need to tap into some of the local knowledge as I was only following the map I downloaded from the 7Stanes site. If there is anyone local on here that’s heading down sometime and doesn’t mind me tagging along for some learning please let me know

Someone has been fishing today I see For all its worth I want to try one of these. I wouldn't buy one but I am interested in the engineering that goes into it and the concept. In all honestly I don't think its for me but that doesn't stop me from wanting to hop on one for the day. Each to their own, I think people need to remember that. What works for one person may or may not work for someone else. Food for thought here
